WC 2006 Draw

loting_fifa.png

Group B and C are the toughest groups.

I hope Ukraine get smashed. No offence to them, but they are a one man team and Shevchenko wont hold up against Spain. Group B looks like a real battle between Sweden and England and I would like the Netherlands to top group C. However, the Dutch must look out for Serbia, they have been in a nice form lately and are not side to be taken lightley.

This has been a pretty dissapointing World Cup draw though, many teams failing to qualify that should have been there as well as teams I would never expect.

Group G looks interesting as well, the way Switzerland made it past Turkey makes me wonder if they will be able to hold up against the likes of Henrey, Zidane (most likely to return) and Trezeuget. Portugal will choke like they did in Euro 2004, as my country the winners will be sitting at home dissapointingly watching it on TV.

#338229

You know what that means my beloved Dutch friend - THIS MEANS WAR! :P

Now it's on! :P

We're watching the game AND playing Mortal Combat to see who beats who! (i just made up a game, the last hit game i was really into was MC on Sega Mega Drive 2 :P )

#338255

I Pretty much agree with U Andreas, except on Poland and Sweden, As for Serbia & MonteNegro they dont have a chance in that Group..

#338265

Prediction: Brazil 6th time world champion and Im not brazilian..

#338281

England for the win! The tabloids need a new hero to latch on to and then later exploit :)

#338283

I wonder how long it will take for Italy to complain about match fixings....

:P

GO PORTUGAL!

i can't wait for this world cup! argintina and netherlands def. the best game outta those groups!

it's gonna be great this summer for world cup!

and to reply too

I would like the Netherlands to top group C. However, the Dutch must look out for Serbia, they have been in a nice form lately and are not side to be taken lightley.

it's def gonna be the best group, but argintina are favs along with brazil to win this whole thing so I doubt they will top the group!

Portugal will choke like they did in Euro 2004, as my country the winners will be sitting at home dissapointingly watching it on TV.

Don't need to rub it in, i could jus say somethin like where's Greece in world cup :P

I must say that was a huge dissapointment for Portugal, they coulden't handle the pressure, that's why this time around they won't feel to much of it, they didn't lose 1 qualify game and I think were 1 of the top scoring teams outta the whole qualification. And their group is pretty easy so i do expect mexico and portugal to go through!

#338291

Does everyone know Brazil will probably beat England again but if we had all the brazil players on our team we would be unbeatable.

#338292

Soca Warriors are gonna surprise everyone!!!!!

It is not because they lost in the Euro. I am Greek and will admit it was a fluke.

But I mean Portugals age range is too varied. Ronaldo is very young and has been at United for a pretty long time. He has been playing with such a top club for too long at such a young age will end his carreer quickly.

Figo. The guy is pretty old. His spot at Inter looks pretty unsure as of now.

As for the others, Deco, Carvalho, Andrade, and Ricardo...they don't have it to go through the next stage. Football is mentality stength and skill. Skill is what the young side of Portugal have, yet they lack the tough mentality.

My predictions:

Group A: Germany and Costa Rica

Group B: England and Paraguay

Group C: Argentina and Netherlands

Group D: Mexico (but of course ;) )and Portugal

Group E: Italy and USA

Group F: Brazil and Japan

Group G: France and Switzerland

Group H: Spain and Ukraine

I think that Mexico has a very good chance to make it to the second stage after groups where they always lose :( My safest choice to win would be Brazil , Italy or England. I think that's where the best quality soccer it's at rigth now :D

#338302

GO ENGLAND GO!!! and see the forbidden match with the sweds... this is going to be one hell of a world cup

The age range is varied but not too much, it's good to have depth and experience!

I disagree they lack the toughness mentally, Simao and Ronaldo are amazing running @ defenders, Deco and Maniche can handle the midfield jus as well as most.

But I will agree with you on Figo, he is too old..at times im like wtf u doin, but other times im like very nice :P he has his moments..and for Ricardo he jus needs some more confidence when going for the ball!

#338307

We are talking about this mentally-strong Ronaldo, right?

OUCH! This thread alone might get me into soccer.

looooooooooooooooooooool, ronaldo is like 20, he got too emotional in that final of euro2004 , but he has a lot to learn and some balls to grow...but none the less has lots of talent and a good future ahead of him...can't deny that!

Man the Swedes are going to beat England this time. England has never beaten Sweden since 1950s! And the thought that England barely qualified, I'd say it's either a draw (as always) or total victory for Sweden. The Swededish Team is Superb this year:

1) Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Juventus) He is gonna rule on the field

2) Henrik Larsson (Barcelona)

2) Fredrik Ljunberg (Arsenal)

3) Olof Mellberg (Aston Villa)

#338376

that zlatan guy sounds like a natural-born swede.

#338390

He does, doesn't he? :P

#338397

Ljunberg is a very skilled player. I haven't seen him away from Arsenal so it will be interesting to see him away from other talents like Henry, Toure (whos little brother is playing with my club!!), Pires, Gilberto and Reyes.

We must remember many players are good players because of the other players on their club. Shevchenko is the biggest example.

LOL, someone is a little bit frustrated because of the wc06 qualifiers :P
