Hey you're a biter, I was the first person here to get a Powerbook 17" and now you're copying me.

nrzero, my present laptop (SonyVaio) has the same problem, do your self a favor and go to your local sunglasses or optical shop and pick up a small bottle of their pump spray cleaner, it cleans my lcd and crts and outer metal case (on my vaio) excellently and with no streaking. No residue left over.
Hope that helps ya.
Got mine from Amazon.com 3129.00 free shipping, no tax.
Thanks Taha for the link. I hope I like it too. I will be keeping all of my PC's still and my laptop (remember the Desktop thread) but willm be adding to this ensemble the 17" Powerbook. Should make a nice addition.

I have one question about the Powerbook, how do you connect to a TV using the provided s-video to composite cable. I've been trying this, but I can't find the right slot on the TV.
Thanks in advance people...
Just connect it the composite VIDEO input on your tv. (it cant be component). The yellow "hole" is usually for video, while the red/white are for audio.
You may have to restart/change settings on your mac though, Im poor, so I cant help you there.
Cool I was able to watch Scarface on my TV after I found an old AV cable, and Contra you were right, the yellow cable is the video one. The powerbook has such great sound, so I didn't need to plug in my aiwa 7 speaker system. :own: :own:
buy a TV with S-video connectors on it. Composite video is better picture.
4 more days until IT arrives.

Do NOT use windex!!!
IT WILL FOG THE SCREEN!
There is a solution made for cleaning laptops. use that.

evenif you try to clean the aluminum with a bit of water, it looks like its scratched or streaking, use windex instead.
I believe nrzero was talking about the aluminum region. <_<
Yeah, anything but water or a special solution (which is really just water) will kill an LCD screen.
Believe me, I know. I lost my LCD to a cleaning woman who didnt speak english very well. ![]()

LOL.... that sounds like a dialogue from a movie..
Like I said guys, get the professional cleaners from sunglass places or eye glass places. The stuff I use is called Nanofilm Ultra Clarity lens cleaner by CLARITY, $2.49 for 85ml in a small pump bottle. It is an advanced formula which offers improved cleaning power and sensitivity on all lenses and coatings, especially anti-reflective lenses.
This product will not damage but improve the look of your laptop surfaces. I tried alot of different products on those anti glare overlay screens for crts, cuz those are the hardest to clean , everything streaks on them, until I found this. Even if your lcd is damaged from streaks that will just not go away, this product will remove them. I used to clean that overlay with windex, then tried alot of different glass cleaners and I thought for sure it was toast and was about to throw it out, when my wife got this product. it made it brand new again instantly.
I use it on all my lcd screens, all my crts, and the outside of my SonyVaio aluminum laptop case. 0 streaking and makes it look new again.
I will be using it on my 17" Powerbook G4 when it arrives on Wednesday as well. It really works. To apply I recommend a lens cleaner cloth or at the very least a nose kleenex, not papertowels or toilet paper.
..or you can just breathe on the screen and then wipe with a soft cloth
Taha, what are you, a hippie?
Well, its cheaper, plus clothes don't leave fibers on the screen.
and whats wrong with hippies..? :hippi:
oh, you like the bane of the universe?
I dont like evil, but I guess thats just a personal prefrence.
Gokus a hippie though, so he may convert me.
OMG Amazon.com is awesome. I found it cheaper on the net, so they honored the price reduction and have refunded on my visa the difference of almost $100.00.
I have now paid $3,079.00 for the 17" Powerbook G4! Free shipping, no Tax.
W00t! (Y) (Y) :own:
I'm still looking for price reductions. Maybe I will get it even cheaper, since it ships on Monday and arrives Wednesday. So if you guys know of cheaper places let me know.

lol that's cool, I thought that this if_you_find_it_cheaper,_we'll_give_you_back_the_difference promise wasn't true...
keep searching until you get that powerbook in your hands :baby:
I paid $2475 direct from Apple so holler back. :own: :own: But I am encountering problems with the notebook, from the first day that I recieved it, I noticed that the screen didn't close properly. Just I noticed that when placed on a level surface my entire powerbook is bent, its superdrive, everything. I'm thinking of returning to the apple store, what do you say?? I stopped using it so that nothing happens, and I can return it in perfect condition. ![]()

I would return it, it's a really expensive machine to get problems from the beginning, maybe it's a minor problem, but you paid for a perfect product and you didn't get that.
Wasn't it your fault right? when you unpackaged the powerbook it already had that problem? >.<
return it. And if possible, ask for one from a DIFFERENT BATCH.
