yup, i do it all the time. are you having a problem getting it to work? or you're just asking if it will work?

#337554

I can't get it to work...

I run Remote Desktop and it shows me some PC on my network... but i can't connect with them... have i setup something or is it some special progs i have to install onto those Win boxes?

Background:

we have AD network with some Win2003 servers. All workstations - WinXP. I only MacOS laptop over network ;) I can connect to servers with MS Remote Desktop but a cacn't do it with Apples Remote. And yes, I have AD user name but I didn't join my Mac with AD...

Can you guide me? step-by-step maybe ;)

All i see is "Verify failed" when i try to add a station to Master List...

Addendum

Network admin just told me that a workstation a saw within Apple remote - is a printers... network printers... i'm curious...

ah, the dreaded 'verify failed' error. that's an encrypted password issue. i forget the exact fix, but it's got to do with a regedit on the server side. i remember i found the fix through google. good luck getting your admin to turn off password encryption on the server...

ic...

thanks. i'll try to Googleit ;)

You'll never get past it.

As long as password encryption is used, Apple Remote Desktop will fail to authenticate.

And no self respecting admin will turn it off for you.

Kinda defeats the whole security thing if you disable it. ;)

#339097

they disable it once )) for me to work with Exchange Server.

All i need - find where this option is...

@shmengie

Can't find anything ( Can't connect... I really need your help.

It's a checkbox that says "Store password using reversable encryption" in AD.

This is a bad thing to check... newest version of Exchange does not require you to weaken your systems this way anymore.

thank you.

but i have an idea that Apple Remote Desktop just can't connect to Windows Terminal Server like MS Remote Desktop Connection do ;)

IMO I have to install VNC server onto MS Windows 2003 Server to ba able to use ARD...do I?
