all the noise about front row shows just how far apple fetishism goes. windows (and linux for that matter) has had better media shells than front row for years, and yet everybody and their sister wants front row for windows.

actually, this is AQUA SOFT, and some of us are still trying to emulate osx, believe it or not

oh and i made a thread like this in comunity app under requests.
my point was that they only found out they needed a media center after apple launched one, but what the hey

Why? cause its one million times cooler to look and use and it works with a 6 button remote instead of a 46 button one, ease of use and style is what the majority of people want rather then ugly and a load of features.. why do you think people switch.
Well I don't know if anyone will be interested but there is a program called MediaPortal

Which emulates Windows Media Centre Edition quite well. The options and initial setting up is a bit fussy but once you get past that, its quite good to use as a media frontend for a media PC.

[like],that is [like] hardly a valid argument. even if front row was a million zillion trillion times cooler and awesomer -
it lacks the functionality of a media center.. all front row is at present time, is ore or less a front end for itunes. part of the reason why front row has a 6 button remote, is because there is no tv interface. at least 26 of the buttons on a media center remote, are the standard buttons on any remote for any channel changing and play/pause/stop/rec/ etc, of any tv/vcr/dvd/dvr remote..
the rumored front row 2.0 however, may have tv functionality as well as many others.. if apple can somehow cram tv functionality into a 6 button remote, i'll do backflips from here to your house.
please think out your thoughts first and back them up with valid statements, other than teenage mutant ninja turtle vernacular.
@ shockme dude your freaking out, your going crazy over nothing. look i know you have to prove windows is better blah blah blah really i don't care, for me os tiger is and always will be the best. i was just trying to explain why people think front row is better then media center, its the same reason why people like to have a mac visual style, or a mac computer for that matter. you windows guys are always freaking out over nothing, i guess dealing with all the spyware and viruses has got you stressed out.

and please don't take credit for voicing other people's opinions- as i think they would be very disappointed in the delivery. clearly in your first post, you were voicing your own opinion, and not those of "the people", because i doubt many people would say "cause its one million times cooler to look and use and it works..." i'm not even sure that statement made much sense.
secondly, (or thirdly) there is no comparison between front row and media center at this stage of the game -as i pointed out in my previous post.

completely true. i just watched jobs' presentation. and when he gets to the slide showing windows media center remote controls, which have 40+ buttons, and the front row remote, which has 6 buttons, and he says: 'see? that's the difference between the them and us!', well, sheesh!! i know he's a showman and a salesman, but that's just lying. i don't see no tv tuner/dvr in no damn imac. (but i did just go with a friend so she could buy one. man, they are freakin' sweet! i think i'm gonna have to get a 20").
anyways, what was i saying?
yeah i just got a 20" last week and it really is amazing.

heh, i don't doubt that the new imacs are spectacular..and i wanted to buy one; and i already have the windows media center.
when i was watching the keynote i was impressed at steve's hipocracy from a year ago, naysaying media center, and how apple wouldn't move in that direction. now frontrow is out. I was thinking how frontrow is only a precursor to what will come.. there most likely will be tv tuners and dvr incorporated into future versions of macs/frontrow. it may even surpass windows media center in the future.. but at present time to say that front row is "one million times cooler" is very preliminary and embellished.
