I already posted this on AquaXP, but I thought i would post it here too.
This tutorial will help you turn your explorer into this:

Thats as close as ive been able to get on making explorer look like OSXs finder. This post will explain to you how to achieve this look. NOTE: You will lose some functionality, since most of the toolbar is just a background image. And I am still working to fix some bugs and add more features but if any of you wish to try, go on.
So you're probably asking, where are the File, Edit, View, etc... menus? Well here they are:

Just click on the left of the bottom bar and a menu comes up. Please note im still working on this and some options dont seem to work. Anyway I dont really use these menus too often.
Now here's a jpeg showing what I used for this:

The only functional buttons are the back and forward buttons, but theyre pretty much the only ones I use so its not a big deal. As you see I use yz toolbar for the toolbar buttons, but you can change them manually if you want, its your choice.
Now ill explain how to do all the modding. First you need to download THIS which contains the necesary images and the modified dll file. Unrar to a folder of your choice.
I HAVE ONLY DONE THIS ON WINDOWS XP SP1, IM NOT SURE IF IT WILL WORK ON OTHER WINDOWS VERSIONS. YOU ARE FREE TO TRY BUT I CANT GUARANTEE IT WILL WORK
REMEMBER TO MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF EVERY FILE YOU MODIFY BEFORE MODIFYING IT
We'll start by setting explorer as we want it to. Open My Computer, right click on the toolbar and click con customize. Remove all buttons except for Back and Forward, click ok. Now move the File Edit View menu bar to the bottom.
The second thing to do is to set the background image. Open regedit and find the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar. On the right, right click and add a new string value which we will name "BackBitmapShell". Right click on the new string and select modify. Type in the path to the background image you'll use. I included a version for resolutions up to 1280 and a version for 1600x1200 resolution. choose the one you want. Click ok and close regedit. Open explorer and you should see the background there.
Now unzip the yztoolbar theme I included to your yztoolbar themes folder. Open yztoolbar settings and select "PicoAqua3". I named it this way because its simply a lightly modified version of the original PicoAqua theme.
The last part is replacing the DLL system file. You can do it any way you please, but I recommend using a program called "Replacer" that you can download HERE. First find the original DLL file in Windows\System32\browselc.dll , drag it to the replacer window and press enter. Now drag the modified DLL and press enter. Type Y to confirm and press enter. It should do the replacing for you.
Once that is done, kill the explorer process and restart it; or you can reboot your computer. Open up my computer and it should look like the first image I posted. If it does not, re-read the instructions to see what you did wrong.
Ive also found a way on adding a third functional button, but it will be hidden so youll have to click on the view part of the background for it to work. I did this with the UP button which I use pretty often, but you can do it with whichever you like. What you have to do is modify the YZ toolbar theme and replace the button you want to use with a light grey 1px dot that will be almost invisible once shown. Now customize the explorer toolbar and add the button you want to use, click ok. It will be there, but it will be hidden and youll have to click on the "View" part of the background for it to work.
I hope this was useful for you, and if you have any questions just reply to the post and ill try to help you. If anyone finds a way to add more and better functionality to this mod, please share it with all of us. Thanks for reading this and good luck ![]()
