I'm off to bed now and if i wake up and see gazillion "OMFG F1R3F0X OUTZ!!!1111eleven" threads i'm gonna be royally pissed ;)

PS I can't express how much i love Firefox. Mozilla guys have done a great job! Can't wait to toy with it tomorrow ^_^

.....ok, I won't. But it's tempting. =)

Wow...the new webpage is gorgeous, and far more intelligible than the old one. It had become overgrown - sorta like Mozilla. =)

Yay for Firefox!

#335352

WOW !!!! Thanx for info :)

#335360

nice thanks for the heads up!

anyone have updated links to extensions? like compact menu?

#335362

It is superb...tomorrow the whole web will talk about it...i hope :P

#335365

Downloading it now so I do it before the servers get hit :P.

Will post opinions later--I'm still on 1.04 (yes, 1.04), so it'll be a big difference for me.

P.S: Unbe, you're supposed to have been in bed a while ago!

#335377

a few extensions that i couldn't find to be updated yet:

autofill

sort bookmarks

cutemenus

some others came up as not compatible, but if you search around, you can find newer versions that do work.... (compact menu being one of them)

#335393

yeah a couple of new themes has the new compact menu in there .rar file. i forget which theme though.

#335396

Pandaemas, I don't think you lose your settings or preferences when uninstalling. (like bookmarks and extensions)

Can someone tell me honestly, if this firefox release is faster than the older ones? I've been using 1.04 for a long while now, and it is slow as a gosh darn turtle! Also, is Firefox still a memory hog in this release?

#335433

Just downloaded it. OMFG, now NONE of my themes work. I was afraid of that. Can't find tabbrowser extension that is compatible either. Think I'm going back to my previous version until themes are compatible. (Damn, it was fast though)

#335453

i am having a pretty hellish time with this update, man. broke just about everything plus the only theme I use (aquafox). I had everything perfect with 1.04, I really think I should have stayed with it!

[edit] can anyone confirm or deny 1.5 NOT minimising to RK Launcher?

#335481

i there an update version for 1.0.7 ???

or just this downloader?

#335789

this 1.5 broke any theme themes i have used except ifox and safire 1, 1.1 and milk. this si really not cool!!!!!!!!!!!! help appreciated. ohh, and fireftp or something like that does not work.

#335853

it totally messed everything i worked out theming firefox. i consider to revert to previous version. why the changed so much in how gui handles the extensions and themes? please, help

#335857

hi to you all, 1.5 is announced, i have already installed it, it messed up all to hell, then i just have reverted things, i came back to previous 1.0.7. now it's beautiful again. thank you all guys at mozilla for giving us a product which was worked out so hard and messed up all other's work so much. stay away from 1.5 for a while. if not, you're gonna have a very poor gui with totally messed up extensions, themes, nav bars and search bars. this is hellish.

#335865

is there an compact menu ext. that works with the new verion???

#335872

for those willing to use 1.0 compatible extension, they could try this hack :D

extensions may not work anyway thou

#335874

yes....look on mozilla site and its the one with the fire thing

#335875

killaart: yeah, the link was posted earlier in the thread, silly!

#335903

aaaagh big thx guys.....sorry i didn't read the entire thread...

works fine :D

#335933

hej everybody is it possible that firefox uses like a lot of memory (RAM) after a little while? Like around 130MB?

#336210

To Vague and other who were asking about memory usage:

In my testing, I have found Firefox 1.5 memory usage to be a significant improvement over all previous versions. I too suffered from Fireox RAM usage skyrocketing, 'specially because I tend to leave the browser open for days at a time. It seems to be releasing memory on tab closes better this time, though these are non scientific observations.

Highly recommended, despite the chore of having to find new themes, plugin updates, etc.
