looks great!

thankyou for sharing.

You rock :own:

Oh, that's a riot! I just made my own colored iCal PNGs and your color is an exact match to mine (well visually it is). Here is a better idea: How about doing an American Version, maybe somebody could do a Canadian, or British, or Frog version.

See all you have to do is insert a small pictorial icon to represent national holidays like the U.S. Flag for July 4th, Christmas Eve, & Christmas, ThaNKSGIVING dAY, Presidents' Day, Easter Weekday, New Years etc., Start of Summer-Winter-Autumn.....you get the idea.

great idea!

ical icons for holidays!

do u know any way to get the size a bit smaller

9mb is a huge file

could u ask the guy who released the docklet how he got the whole thing in a 900 kb .rar file

if thats possible if not then i'll be downloading it'll just take me a while

thanks

#31076

I will ask him how to get the file size so small. I tried doing a RAR with maximum compression and it didnt go much smaller.

I used winRAR 3.20; when compressing make sure you Check "Create solid archive".

Thanks, I will try once I get home!

Great work Dav, and thanks to Albeik for the .rar reply...I see that Mr. EFF @ DT2 (DesignTechnika.com...Go to Forums...Look for Yz Dock Forum...there you will see 'all' the threads of colored/3D icons for Albeik's excellent docklet...Sorry the link to post in very long) has released some of his colored iCal icons in .rar file and they are reduced in size: New Grey color! (550kb .rar) Very Good!

Blue iCal icons (1.03 MB .rar)

Hopefully Dav, you will be able to convert to a .rar similar in size with iCal v02...

I was wondering if this docklet should be rewrited... I mean, why you have to make every icons day of every month?. Why not one icon and use the same method of Magic Ball 0.2 or Mailcheck 0.4.x? I cant compile docklets with my compiler and I cant find the way to do it... But Im sure when I find the way to do it this docklet will have just one icon ;)

or 12 icons

 :canadian:

iCal v.03 uses 1 icon... but its not going to be released for a while. ;)

The icon is an empty iCal.

I never got the iCal working (the first iCal by a different author), until somebody did me the favor of mailing me his folder and I did some minor changes, then it worked perfect. Now with the new Ys dock v 083, I did an exact transfer of the files and renamed the new Ys dock folder as the original and placed it in the same directory but the iCal no longer works.

I decided to try this new iCal docklet and it works perfectly, almost hassle free. I actually don't see a big deal that each date has its own picture. It allows better customization for each date in a straight forward way. Having a single image has a drawback: first all images will look the same, but second if you actually generate a number how will it orient itself over the calendar image? Although it may save space it may make the program more complicated and less flexible. It is very easy to batch process hundreds of images when you want to do a global change, so I don't see a problem there. Well whatever direction it goes I'm glad that somebody did a great job with this docklet.

Thank you ! Thank you Alilm

If your changing the same thing on every image anyway, wouldnt one image do the same thing, but quicker?

albeik: Any chance of adding alarm type things for special events. Like a blinking Calender, or something like that. Mmmmm....pulsating.

#31129

No, because when you use one image for all but the date has to change. Getting the number and the month rightly oriented may present problems and limit the orientation of the image itself so it all looks good and blended as one object. I'm sure it can be done but may limit the look of the calendar.

#31132

Orienting the numbers and positioning (+antialliasing) them is not the problem when using GDI+. For alerts, and overlay color can produce a different overall color on the docklet itself whenver a date/time is set.

Not sure if the alert will be available on the next release though.

Two versions will be out, one with only 1 ical icon, and the other that uses the same old method. The goal that both version should look the same.

Whenever I get to it we all can compare both results and decided which you you prefer! :)

#31138

oh Albeik, you always seek to please.

Thanks for your hard work. So would it be possible to overlay special images (like birtday cakes, etc) for certain days?

#31140

Theoratically yes... but a quick test with latest YzDock seem to ignore my bitmap paint on the docklet... I am not sure if YzDock its self is ignoring it or I am missing something...

I can't give u a quick answer for that... at the moment... but u can "manually" do it with the current docklet just buy replacing the png with the appropriate one.

Shouldn't you have in mind the moving and magnification of the image on mouse over?

Also, this magnification effect of the dock is different for all of us, who have configured it to our taste. Maybe the dock could provide some information, such as the position when magnified...

No. If you have used my weather docklet. It still looks the same when magnified. Yz Dock does the magnification via the original image. So no need to redraw or figure out anything!

I wouldn't bother doing the weather docklet if issues like that exist.

Hopefully this clears things.

I myself would lean towards seperate images, just b/c its easier for me!

#31152

Well anyway my site is down for now, "Suspended". Maybe I used too much bandwidth.

yeah just create a little birthday emblem in photoshop or whatever and then overlay it on the png of the date it's on. save a backup of the original and there ya go, you have your b-day png ;)

#31243
