Aqua-linux

So you wanna give KDE an aqua look, don't you? Well, after a little research I found some links that may help it. First you must get and install:

Mosfet liquid

This one has a custom render engine that makes the stripped background, plus the aqua scrollbars, tabs and buttons. It adds even a custom panel configuration to modify the colors for each item. The only "flaw" is the windows decoration, that don't have the three colored ball at left. For that you must get

Acqua with Dropshadows - l3m flavoured

It gaves you the Aqua titlebar PLUS shadows! There is a little strange look in OS X shadow emulation, but nothing serious. Use it and see what I am talking about.

And a aqua theme would be nothing without icons. And here they are:

Many icons, one absence here and there, but a very good package.

Oh, I forgot. You may like a blue color to use with Mosfet's style. Use this: #85C8FF. It's a HTML code for the blue that will look pretty nice in those bars/buttons.

I haven't tried these yet, but looks like aqua. It could be a base for someone to develop a good aqua theme. If i find something better i'll post here.

Why isn't there a zooming linux dock? Would it be that hard to make, or do people just like to code for windows?

There are plenty of zooming docks for SuperKaramba. But none of them zoom anything like OSX. They usually just zoom one icon at a time.

contrasura.. they do zoom like OS X... well not exactly like OS X but not 1 icon at the time.

btw.. that on the right of the last screenshots are running apps not dock launchers..

Now THAT is awesome. If I could photoshop/flash/dreamweaver in Linux, i'd be just about ready to switch. Will WINE do that?

well they dont zoom like OS X's dock

its a great start.. sicne the real dock icon zooms up more icons at once longer out

evenm if we could get a real dock for linux.. yes yes i know linux doesnt have real transparency but we dont NEED it to be transparent.. or just do fake transparency that only shows the background...

so it be cool to have the icon effect in a program for linux to use

Wow, that looks nice.

Anyway,a Linux dock is perfectly possible, just not existant. Someone could program the dock using OpenGL just like Moby used DX9. Its just that's a very hard process (look how long the win-docks took), and theres not enough interest.

hey you know what .. i remeber way back then when docks for us were very poor.. or webbased active desktop dock.. or flash based docks and the mag wasnt as good... gave windows soem time now look!

it looks like the linux side is starting off the same way how linux docks were started.. you never know... maybe a real dock is to come for linux

Hey, im all for a dock, the NeXT dock of WindowMaker seems a little dated (though efficient).

The problem is that the current docks use the Windows API heavily,so even if one of the developers wanted to port it, they couldn't easily.

So basically, someone would have to start from scratch, and that could take 2+ years.
