[help] iPod not playing audiobook

I recently bought the audiobook Jarhead from the iTMS, and sent it to my first-generation iPod

When I tried to play it on the iPod, the remaining time on the now playing screen flickered different times, then it reverted to the main iPod screen. All four audiobook files don't work.

I sent a support message to Apple, and they sent back a lame reply.

"If you haven't ever transferred songs to your iPod..."

Hopefully they will give me a refund or something if it wont work.
