[help] how to remove the sidebar in AIM?

i'm an avid trillian user, and havent used aim for nearly 5 years. i'm fixing a friend's computer, and she has this weird sidebar to the left of the buddylist. i havent found any way to disable or uninstall it.. does anyone know how to go about this?

i already installed aim ad hack, but that doesnt seem to have any effect.
