[Help]Dock/Ultramon. Kinda.

Okay, so I should preface this by stating that I run five monitors on my PC. I've been using Ultramon's excellent Smart Taskbar feature and that's suited me great. For those who don't know, this puts a taskbar on each monitor that only shows the tasks running on that screen. I guess you can see where this is going, right?

I'm wanting to switch over to docks. A dock for each monitor, each dock with it's own shortcuts (easy) and only showing the applications running on that screen (not easy).

Any ideas?

RaduKing ? Where art thou :P

why on earth would anyone want 5 monitors in front of them? i cant even imagine how big your desk must be...

pls take a pic and post so we can all have a good laugh, or cry, depending on how cool some of us will likely find it

I could always screenshot I suppose. My desk isn't that big through, cause it's only three 21" and two 15" monitors arranged like so

21-21-21

15 me

15

But yes, back to the original post, I guess no-one has any ideas of apps that can do this?

I guess you could always PM RaduKing

I'll give that a shot, thanks ^_^

actually RK Launcher doesn't have multi monitor support :(

but it will have if I get to have more than one monitor someday :)

#333728

Two monitors I understand, but why on earth would one need five monitors ?

#334370

pointless waste of space and money....too much money too little sense

#334376

Um, we're not here to editorialize on why we dislike Xu_x_Quisty because he can afford more than we can :P.

Anyway, though you could conceivably make five separate folders for each RK dock you want, like raduking said, RK Launcher won't go on different monitors--only the primary one. I honestly can't think of any external solution if there's no multi-monitor support at the moment. Sorry :slant:.

Hope this helps (in that I've brought your dreams crashing down...hehe, sorry about that ;))!

It's not really expensive, nor excessive. I already had two 21" Sun Trinitron's running from my primary graphics card, and then one day I was down at the local refurb place and they had these quite old 21" HP (Sony Tube) beauties there for $30 each, so I picked three of them up with a handful of old Matrox graphics cards. They don't do the best resolution, but it allows me to have a monitor assigned to VMware, one to email/bittorrent/foobar and one to MSN, and still having the two good ones to webbrowse and photoshop, et al. Dispite what you may think, running multiple monitors actually does have many benefits and it's not all that pricey.

Thanks for your help though, I guess I'll stick with Ultramon's taskbars x.x

Rocket Dock and ObjectDock have multiple monitor support. I would say either get ObjectDock, that can make multiple docks or .... run all docks Yz, RK Launcher, rocket Dock and ObjectDock(free version) .... thats only four but its a start. :)

exactly why i have multiple monitors too. some people just don't realize how much more efficient it can be with more than one (several) monitors.

personally I have one monitor on my desk right now (at work) and i hate staring at this one... but it would nice to have dual so that I can work in ProE and have our document management server open on a different monitor...

Object Dock plus has multi-monitor support, worth giving a shot (and it's not an expensive program either) it's probably your best bet ^_^

And I want a screenshot of this beauty:P (5 monitors...must be cool)

#335378

rocketdock? this is the first time i heard about it, when did this thing get released lol?

#335392

ObjectDock's Multiple Monitor support is not what I'm after ;_; I want it to show only the tasks running on that particular monitor, but it shows all tasks on all docks. Icky.
