the # table problem

another prob here:

i want to make a table 3 cells x 3cells, but with the top-middle, btm-mid, left and right cells of different size. is this possible?

now for some ascii art demo to show what i mean:

the right box is a standard 3x3 table...3

but the problem is that A B C will be of the same height, and ADG will be of the same width...always! is there any way of making it look like the table on the left, where each cell can have its own height and width?
