I dont think it is possible, unless you kill your explorer.exe maybe there is a way to hack it and remove the startbar. The easy way might be just select auto hide from the properties menu.

good luck

i don't use explorer for shell so i don't see the startbar. so just use another shell and hide startbar.

do you mean the start menu or the taskbar?

the taskbar - just disable explorer as your shell.

the start menu - some heavy reshacking should do it ;) try explorer.exe first.

Now that I remember, Talisman Desktop has the option to run as shell, you can make a theme for you, and dont make a task bar, set it as shell, and you wont have a taskbar. You might want to give a try to it its homepage is http://www.lighttek.com

You can do the same thing with LiteStep. Use it as the shell instead of explorer.exe. That will kill it. The main problem with useing another shell is most don't have a working desktop. Meaning no desktop icons on a right click menu. There really hasn't been a real well designed shell/explorer replacemant as far as I am consered. Most have been half hearted at best.

Yeah GO GO LITESTEP

I was using that 2 years ago. I started clean Litestep as shell, and built in some hotkeys to do everything.

No taskbar No startmenu No right click No Icons

I was the only one who knows how to use my own comp. People just stared at my wallpaper.

litestep is awesome. definitely a good and customizable shell. use LS if you want to get rid of startbar and need a new look.
