panther icons transparency

Hey guys,

I've been using the panther icons pack with the 1000's of icons, very cool. With Avedesk 1.3 I create the icon desklet add my labels and volume size sublables. My problem is when i try to set the icons image. I use a standard mac drive icon, but end up getting a black background where id expect it to be transparent. Or a black outline around the perimeter of the icon. When i try and adjust the transparency setting sfor th eicon it simply adjust the entire icons transparency rather than the outside/outline.

I've read another post on this site regarding this and its suggestes repait the icon in photoshop which i'm not ot keen on as I dont wanna do this for dozens of icons. Is there something i'm not doing right when i set up my icon in Avedesk 1.3?

Thanks in advance

Refresh my memory again--are those icons .ico files or .png files?

AveDesk usually works well with both, but convert to PNG for optimal viewing.

'Course, if you show me what icon you're using, I can send you a copy of it that I know works, from my collection.

Hope this helps,

oh sorry my mistake they are all .ico files

Alright, try converting those .ICO files to .PNG files using IconDrop (you know how to use that, right?), and then using the .PNG files as icons.

ok cool I will try that... ONe thing "icondrop" is that when you drag and drop your icons onto the settings dialogue box in Avedesk?

Hehe, no, there's a handy desklet called IconDrop, which will convert ICO files -->PNG files and vice versa (you can do multiple ones at the same time!).

I had thought it was included with AveDesk--did you check the list of desklets?

If not, I'll send it to you this afternoon (can't seem to find a thread about it either...hmmm...).
