Feedback Needed: AveScripter Tutorial

I want some feedback on an AveScripter tutorial I'm writing. The tutorial should guide the reader thru the process of creating a fully-fledged AveScripter desklet for AveDesk. Each step, a feature will be added.

I have only completed writing the first step of this tutorial (the longest one), but I want some feedback on how understandable it is:

Pretty good--you could mention AveScripter's comprehensive readme, which will explain all the "stuff" you can put in the XML file.

Oh yeah, and sides refers to each flip you can do, right? So, Side0 (or does it start at 1?) is default, and then little arrow takes you to 1(2?) and etc.?

That's what I've been lead to believe...

It's definitely readable, though... one or two awkward sayings, but that may be because I'm not as good with English as I thought I was :P.

I think someday AveDesk will replace konfabulator and even more powerful. :D Cant wait to see that day.

Keep it up to the Heaven (kind of weird :P)

Good :) I think that i understand this :P

If i understand (if not, correct me) Avescripter desklets , are almost the same as konf. widgets. Yes?

thanks for the comments so far :)

I have updated it with two extra steps (still not done yet).

Correct, that will be discussed in some other step of the tutorial.

Please tell me!

Yep. In my opinion it's easier to make an AveScripter widget, but I'm not completely unbiased :)

I think that this is great, will help lots of members with the confidence needed to get a leg up with taking the plunge in...

but this is a great start, I like how this was done in word, so that I could print it and use for reference...

now perhaps the next step would be to illustrate the coding of the meters, or how to create the config files and how they are edited with application.

perhaps a great example would be to disect a docket that everyone uses and break it apart, and show how it is asembled or how to create something, like a c.u.p. monitor or a wifi monitor or a clock.

the links to the editors that you posted was great.

this is a great step in foward direction that would enable the avedesk community users to post more dockets and cool diskets. I just cant wait to see what you will come up next.

Bravo :P

When I release AveScripter Monday (I hope) I will have the following a bunch of "Skins" included with it. I tried to keep the "Script Code" as clear as possible and I also tried to do different approaches on different skins to get the same end result. This will give you an idea of things.

Skins that will be released.

1) Weather (XML, Parameters (aka Config values), Scripting, Sliding, timers)

2) Picture viewer (Dialog box for prompting path, slideshow, timers)

3) RSS2 Reader. (XML, timer, parameters, "Dialog Box", click to open link)

4) RSS2 News ticker (XML, sliding of text, clicking to open page)

5) Clock (Rotations)

6) Calculator

7) Calendar (In progress... Will include XML, configurations and read/write xml :)

Not bad, I can't wait until AveScripter comes out. Winamp skins are setup in a similar way, which should make widget creating fairly easy for me. ;)

Ave, why not distribute this as a PDF? You can include images and text (with formatting) in a single file. Much more convevient and portable, I think.
