ibook vs mac mini (performance) ?

Hey, I was wondering, if I got an 12" ibook (1.33 ghrz) with say, 768 MB of ram,

would it be faster than my mac mini (1.42 ghrz, 512 ram) ?

Mini 1.42 averages around 35-40

Browse the list and you can check the detailed specs of individual machines.

I'd say the advantage of the iBook is the screen-spanning hack - with an extenal display (a'la mac mini) instant dual-screen goodness!

I dont think the cpu on the ibook would make that much difference, but

it probably has a slower FSB and stuff than the mac mini, am I right ?

No. That's the average of all iBooks of various speeds.

Also, a surprising amount of people upload their results into the wrong category.

Click on the iBook link and search for an iBook with matching processor to what you want to compare with. Then you can click on individual machines and view their system specs.

Mac Mini FSB is 166Mhz. iBook is 133Mhz.

This also means the mini uses PC2700 ram, whereas the iBook uses PC2100.

So yes, the iBook is a little slower overall.

crap I find the mini a tiny bit slow, the ibook would be even worse.

Actually its not slow its just not right for what I do, I need to run photoshop

illustrator and stuff like that all the time ...

I wish I could buy a powerbook but I cant even think about affoarding it ...

I have a iBook, 512 MB, and I run Safari, iChat, iTunes, Photoshop, Bittorent, and mail almost all the time and I don't get a lag at all.

I would say get it. But I am not a huge performance freak. It is a good computer if you are looking for portability...in my opinion.
