[help] iPod service

How to kill that IPodSevice?

When i stop and disable it in Administrative Tools>services and start iTunes it starts too and after pc restart it sits in my task manager :/

Get a program like "Startup Control Panel" ( www.mlin.net ) and disable the "ITunesHelper" thing....I believe that's what I did.

yep, it starts automatically with iTunes, or the iTunes helper. You have to get rid of both if you don't want them, but iPodService will start anyway when you run iTunes

Yep same problem with me, anooying since i don't have an ipod, so it's just wasting resources sitting there.

I think they changed something that makes it appear everytime you start up iTunes version 6 & above, as the previous versions were fine for me when this service was disabled.

knowing apple's "brilliant" x86 programming, deleting ipodservice will render itunes useless.

you should turn it off with task manager, disable it in Control Panel - Adminstrator Tools - Services, then rename IpodServices.exe in /Program Files/iTunes/ to something like IpodServices backup.exe

if you have hijackthis, u can remove the IpodServices startup entry

it keeps restarting and being back on startup list everytime you start iTune, it's annoying, but i think it works if you rename IpodServices.exe

if you dont have an ipod, i dont think disabling ipodservice will have any bad effects. in older versions i always disabled it and everything worked fine.

and there is no ipodservice.exe in the itunes folder..it is in program files/ipod/bin

Well i just renamed it to "ipodservicebak" then launched itunes, and checked the Services and doesn't appear to re-enable itself to manual anymore which is good. So far so good, no errors lol!

this was mentioned in the Mplugin 2.2 thread a while ago. someone said that they renamed the file. following their example (since i dont have an iPod yet), i renamed it to "iPodService1.exe". iTunes works just fine and doesn't load it (iPodService) at all .
