SIT File

I downloaded a file from an icon site with a .SIT extension, they're splash screens/startup splashes for MS Office. Does anyone know how to replace them or where the .SIT file goes?

SIT is a compressed file format for Mac, equivalent to ZIP file in Windows.

You need StuffIt Expander to uncompress the SIT file first.

i'm running windows XP, downloaded Stuffit Express. I don't think it'll do the job though.

You can use these files - here's how:

Extract the SIT file with Stuffit Expander (windows version is fine)

There is an option in Stuffit to extract the resource fork - I forget whether you need it turned on or off (one or the other).

The icons will extract - the format will be ICNS format.

You may need to add the ".icns" extension manually.

ICNS files can be opened using Axialis IconWorkshop.

IconWorkshop will also handle conversion to PNG and ICO formats for you
