[help] avedesk : Automounter > external HDD

I have an external HDD.

It automounts easily... but i cannot "eject" it (don't know if it is the good term, as my windows is in french).

It always tell me that there is an application that uses it.

I like having an icon on my desktop that gets on automagically... like my cds... but it is annoying that it doesn't let me "eject" my HDD.

Thanks

I think (but I could be wrong) that's because the desklet is constantly polling the device for space numbers (free or used) and number of files/folders. So the system can never release the drive since it thinks something is using it

edit: Andreas cleared this up (see below)

wrong :P the desklet is not at all polling, but is getting notifications - I am still investigating this, but I think it boils down to a badly coded driver somewhere (not sending notifications) or something I haven't discovered yet.

would love to see a solution for this as i use about 5 firewire drives on a regular basis and i can never seem to un-mount them when using avedesk's wonderful automounter.

Ave, is there maybe a 'quick'fix that could be incorporated, perhaps like a right click option "remove desklet until next mount" where upon by exiting the desklet, and then unmounting the external drive the window's way, then reconnecting the device, that AveDesk would automount the drive again?

I also have each firewire drive partitioned thrice... so a solution that could direct the user to an entire drive vs. each partitioned drive that appears on the desktop would be less confusing. Anyways, wishful thinking as you have already done so much... I am not disappointed in the least. This is just me rambling. Thanks again Ave.
