the joys of graphics card failure.

Come one, come all!!!

Roll up, Roll Up, and feast your eyes upon the gruesome artifact infested monitor...

The legend of this strange creature is buried well within the deapths of geek mythology.

The story goes, that late one Saturday afternoon (around 5), whilst the geeks where huddled around the "bringer of knowledge", a cursed demon crawled into the fabled Nvidia 6800 GT's fan, causing the card to overheat. The geeks cried out in rage, and fear, as they watched the screen flicker and be consumed by the unholy artifact.

Blackness consumed the bringer of knowledge.

Thank the lord for the sacred tax invoice of hope... or this story may hath had a more tragic end.

(true story, happened to me... two days ago)

x_X well at least you seem to have a sense of humor about it. sorry about your card though :(.

#327881

Man that sucks, what card you thinking of upgrading to now?

#327910

Ummm

Good for you?

#327918

go for the ati x800xl 256mb card or the xt as if you buy one from his they have ultra cool fans that don't recycle air from inside the case to cool the card

#327934

why dont you just RMA the card??

Its not like this is tragic, and makes you rember how good of an idea it was to keep one of thoes PCI video cards laying around.

what is rma the card?

sending it to the people i bought it from, found the warranty *yay* :^)

can't afford a new one... this one was pretty expensive anyway (for me - student low income).

i don't know how much cheaper hardware is in the good ol' u.s.a. but, it's expensivish here...

sucks though... i need my good graphics card for doing my 3d modelling, have show reel almost done, and BAM!!!

oh well, all that is left to do is smile, and be glad it wasn't the hard drive...

all that pr0n would be so missed... oooh better get rid of that before i send the pc to get fixed... jk :^P

thanks for the sympathy...

If you cant afford to buy a new one, and its under warrenty, you RMA it. Now, what kind of card is it? BFG Tech? eVGA?.... and also, how long ago was it purchased.

omfg... LOL

now that tells me what the acronym rma means doesnt it...

its a nvidia 6800 GT, manufactured however by leadtek, i have had the computer for about 7 months.

i pulled the card out and its on the way to the seller for fixing...

i was not asking for advice, just posting the fact that my card crapped itself... thanks anyhow...

ok well if you sent it back, chances are a new one will come, consider that RMA'ing your card.
