Hi there everyone. Well, the title kinda sums it up. I was just wondering if there is, or if someone would make a standalone iTunes widget, just like AveTunes but w/o the need for AveDesk (no offence Ave). I don't have anything against AveDesk, i just don't use any of the features it's got, other than AveTunes.

Not to act like an Ave Fanboy or something, but I'd like to raise the following points:
1)It's perfectly acceptable to be using AveDesk for only one thing
2)Considering it's fantastic memory usage, you'll be lucky to get a program with a smaller footprint.
NOW, if you want different features than AveTunes provides, that's a different story--but if AveTunes has what you want, why not use it?

i agree, avedesk is really good on memory.
i agree with nightscrawler, nothing wrong with using avedesk for one thing ^^. also, windows being what it is, i don't believe there is a program that will act as a standalone iTunes widget. that is to say, that a widget is a type of addon for a program (like Avedesk or Konfabulator), therefore you won't find one that acts alone.
I use AveDesk for this reason mainly.
I have a few other widgets, but I don't use them at much as my AveTunes.
I can make one for iTunes if you wish. I have made one for WMP in the past, 'WMPCDD' and don't see any problem creating one for iTunes as well. Let me know what fucntions you are looking for (ie Dashboard-esque clone or something more along the lines of AveTunes) and we'll see what we can do.
With the iTunes SDK it's very easy to hook into iTunes for just about anything.
@Sranshaft: Hmmm...that would be cool. Basically i just want it to do the same as avetunes. but i'll keep using avedesk for now and see if it bothers me at all. thanks for voluntering, appreciate it

As you can see, running the iTunesWidget standalone doesn't turn out to be a good idea. If you have spare time on your development skills, please do something with foobar2000 in mind - people on this board have been whining for a foobar2000 widget forever to no avail 
I admit it isn't as easy as hooking into iTunes or into winAmp (with activeWA plugin) but you will earn yourself tons of respect if you do it first!
