Ishut 1.5 And Jbox 2.0 Released!

As I promised, I'm releasing new versions of jBox and iShut.

Both have many new features and fixes. :D

iShut 1.5 changes

1. No more XP manifest errors!

2. iShut is now one executable which has 4 different modes which can be accessed through different arguments;

-a is the all in one log off/shutdown/reboot dialog.

-l is the log off dialog.

-s is the shutdown dialog.

-r is the reboot dialog.

Look for more info on this in new the "Read Me".

3. You can change the background images all of the dialogs.

4. Added more skins and skinning resources.

5. Opens in the center of the screen.

jBox 2.0 changes

1. No more XP manifest errors!

2. Now you can save different skins in different .ini files, so you can keep multiple skins and load them anytime.

3. Now when browsing for a background picture the files are filtered so only supported image formats are allowed to load which reduces errors.

4. A couple transparency issues where fixed and everything should be working fine now.

5. A total of 114 background images added and skinning resources are included.

5. New "Read Me" file.

I'm also releasing a new version of my XP Manifest Maker in case for some reason you have to replace the apps manifest files to regain XP visual style controls. It can also be used for other programs to gain visual style support.

I have sent all the files including the source to jed717ph, so he can update his site and host them there. And so he can continue development on jBox and iShut.

This iShut is almost perfect. Thank you both.

A couple of questions

Is there a way for me to change the word Reboot into Restart on my own? Is there also a way to select the font I want to use on the items?

Thanks again.

Cheers :D

Thanks beric,

Good Work! (Y)

#30279

Nice work beric

one problem for me,

when ever i try to open jbox an error message pops up and says that i have a file not correctly registered,

Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registeres: a file is missing or invalid

 :rule:

#30280

Hi beric,

Please bear with my ignorance but do we need to turn off the Visaul Style function before using your iShut (I found the Aqua blue items, such as Reboot/LogOff/Cancel/ShutDown, are not displayed correctly when VS is turned on)!?

Plus, could you suggest what is the default font that iShut expects? The Lucida Grande font (with default size 9) seems not perfect matching iShut on my WinXP.

Thank you very much :own:

You have to regester the MS commondialog control from the Visual Basic 6 SP5 runtime.

This iShut is almost perfect. Thank you both.

I will do that once I get the time and if jed717ph allows me to continue development.

No you don't have to disable visual styles, for some reason a few Visual styles do not cooperate well with iShut. The default font is LucidiaMAC Bold 9

It seems it was a lot of work. Very well done. Thank You both!!

#30299

I must be really stupid, but I don't understand exactly how jbox is suppose to work. Do I need to have a copy of jbox in each apps directory?

I would really be grateful for the info on it. (bear with my ignorance)

Very nice works guys...however, I have a question about iShut...

I primarily use Aqua VS or Brushed VS (Iceman's & KoL's)...I see in the Read Me file that: "You can change the background images of all the dialogs"...

When I try to copy the (4) .jpgs (Logoff, Shutdown, Reboot, & All) from \iShut\Images\Brushed 2 and try to paste them into \iShut\Images to try to 'overwrite' the default .jpgs (milk) it does not allow me to paste them...

So the background (default) image is still there, when I would like to have Brushed 2 background images (all 4 .jpgs)...

I am sure that there is a simple solution...lol...thanks...

EDIT: Yahoo...was finally able to paste (had to use ctrl+v)-keyboard shortcut and it worked beautifully! Thanks to J . Pirate @ AquaXP

I can't seem to get iShut to work.

It shows up. It looks amazing but only the cancel button works for all different modes.

anything i didnt do??

thanks

edit: ok... it's nothing wrong with iShut. somehow all my shut down, restart, log off, sleep stopped working altogether. anyone knows how to fix this? i cant shut down!! :(

edit squared: nevermind.. it fixed itself after i restarted it. weird

#30326

Thanks for your job.

I would like to know how is possible to change the name of the buttons (cancel, reboot, log off .....) to a french word.

I tried with "reshacker", but I didn't find.

Thanks for your help

#30330

hmmm.

Nice work indeed.

However, im not the developer anymore so, don't thank me. Thank beric. He is the developer of jBox and iShut. <_<

My plans are lost, all of them. All of my plans to contribute to Aqua-Soft are gone! So Im sorry. I have nothin to contribute to Aqua Soft.

See you in 2004. <_<

#30344

Don't feel that way Jed. If you didn't come out with the initial idea and get the help of others, then I don't think anyone else would have thought of creating this kind of utility since it wasn't really a necessary priority. It was your idea right? A lot of things come to fruition because of someone's idea or suggestion. Even a suggestion, no matter how little or insignificant it may seem, may be the start of something great.

So if iShut and Jbox came to be just because it was your idea or suggestion, then we have you to thank.

Cheers

Works great with windowFX but not with Yz Shadow so I guess I know which one I will be using.........windowsFX Great job to Jed and Beric thanks guys :own:

#30369

Great job beric. I have a suggestion: would it be possible to make jBox to take the handle of the application in the foreground (with getForegroundWindow () ) and show an about box accrodingly to that app?

Well, I have been thinking in the design of all this, so if you consider it, please contact me.

Hi,

I like so much the ishut alication, but on my comuter I have one small roblem. My comuter (look below to the secifications) is an ATX comuter. When I shut down my Windows in normal mode, the computer turnes off automaticly, but when I use ishut, I obtain the screen "is now safe to turn off your computer".

Anybody have this bug?

#30865

if you have XP Antispy, check the enable fast shutdown....

Also, I saw this also on msconfig. Type msconfig on the run menu. Maybe that trick is on WIndows 98. I think..

But try on XP Antispy, that will help ya.
