Are .png Icons useless?

Hey I'm new to the whole Skinning experiance but I have a small problem, I have about 28MB of .png MAC icons, evereything in icons covering about 80% of file extentions and such. How do I go about changing them into .ico icons without doing it one by one and how would I be able to to make it uiseable for IconPackager?

Thanks!

To change the pngs into icons, look for AveIconifier in these forums, you can drag a bunch of png files into the program and it will auto convert them to .ico for you. Ave did an awesome job with that one.

I don't know anything about iconpackager, so someone else will have to fill you in there.

You can also use Axialis IconWorkshop, but it's not free like AveIconifier, however you can batch convert PNGs to icons, this means you don't have to convert one by one, you just select the icons and convert them at once :). Plus IconWorkshop allows you to convert Mac Icons to Windows Icons, and *.ico files to *.png files.

About the IconPackager thing, IP3 has a drag and drop feature, so if you're looking to replace icons, load Windows Default Icons and edit the package. If you need any IconPackager help PM me.

And NO .PNG icons are NOT useless, you need them for Linux, and for AveDesk

Thakns for the advice, I've taken some steps to convert them, now my biggest problem is that they look shoddy, mainly because they're size is 128x128 and I'm trying to get it working with 48x48 or 32 sized icons (whevere are Windows Desktop standard. Any help there?

just use ave iconifier 2 and highlight all the png's you want to convert. drag them in and you have all ur png's as high quality icons. the windows standard is 32x32 and they should look just peachi when there converted.

Thanks for that, it's al starting to look a million bucks, now stupid me cut and pasted the icons so I don't have my original .png icons for the Dock at the bottom.

IconSushi ... you can load all the .png's into it and save them as .ico's . one easy step.

what i do is load the png in photo shop, resize it to what ever ie 48x48 and import it into microanglo studio. piece of cake.
