I too would like to see more avedesk desklets, perhaps you should contact the authors of those apps and ask them to port them or ask ave developers/designers to port them

You should also make a list of the apps and their authors instead of a screenshot I think..

just my two cents

Not again >.

lol well its a new version ave desk and i think the lack of widgets is what can cause a huge increase in amount of users..

Two of those are already available by Hyral. :)

1. Different frameworks

2. Different apps

3. Permissions

4. Contracts that would regulate it (Konfab is part of Yahoo now)

ya that may be but i mean cant *similar* widgets be created for ave desk.. Also i dont see why ave desk would have much trouble with using these widgets aslong as they have consent of the original author of the widget creator, as the widgets arent owned by yahoo but by the author unless i am mistaken

The AveScripter will help a lot. As long as you are comfortable with JScript or VBScript, porting these things is relatively straight forward.

Just wait a little also, the new default widgets coming with that will knock Konfabs out of the park.

#326798

sure hope your right, but in the mean time got any guides on how to get started in porting widgets, maybe someone can make a tool to port widgets to and from..

#326885

Far too much work to automate this stuff.

Once the Scripter is out and its calls documented you shouldn't have a problem. It just comes down to practice with the different script types.

No real porting guides, but look at the documentation for both engines and basically figure it out.

When the Scripter comes out Im going to give it a try and see what I can do with my widgets

The scripter engine is different than konfabulator. And for "Legal" reasons I didn't want to copy any thing on the market.

The upcoming scripter will be able to do almost everything Konfabulator can in one form or another. I will be more than happy to port stuff over. I got a couple of Konfabulator ports I will release to give you an "Idea" of what and how things work in scripter. I know I know.. give it now.. but I rather get a few things working before release. These few last things will be worth it. (Event binding to COM objects)

I will have a "Document" of the scripter. XML based. I'm not good at documentation so I'm hoping someone will help me out. BUT I'll be more than happy to help anyone out. Also, if you get the permission from the author, I'll help you out or I'll do the port. Most of the scripts aren't that hard to do.

sounds cool, im not much of a coder (seriously i know nothing) so hopefully it will be easy to catch on.. and work out.
