i was wondering if it would be possible to make a portable version of AveDesk, like portable firefox, to be put on a thumb drive.
EDIT:i know that you can run it off a thumb drive normally, but the place i would like to use it (school) has allot of things disabled and some dll's are missing. ive tryed to replace some of the dll's but i cant get the kernel32.dll to work.

You miss things in Kernel32.dll?
AveDesk runs on 2000 and XP, not 95/98/SE/ME or NT4.
I tested AveDesk under a limited-account. Only things that are not working are registering AveDesk's COM interfaces/file associations and installing files into a read-only directory.
However, it should work normally of a thumb-drive - except for scripts not working.
Personally, I think this is the way to go, since applications & files should only be install-able by people with write/admin rights.
@Kernel32.dll issue: what herd says, you'll need Win2K or XP (NT5 or greater).
I actually tried to take an AveDesk version of 1.3 to University today and try it, unfortunately it causes an error.
However, AveDesk 1.2 was portable i think, as i use to burn my AveDesk folder, and after a reformat i could load all my settings back without even reinstalling AveDesk, just loading it from a folder 
Yeh same as me, damn Admins disabled most of the access at Uni lol, i got Rk Launcher to work

well windows send report error, i know you want details but it have to wait until monday

ill get the error when i go back to school on monday but it sayed somthing allong the lines of not being able to open a com interface from kernel32.dll.
oh and all the comps use xp pro.
Are you sure you are on xp sp2 or a xp machine with directx9c installed?
^^ Was that question aimed at me, if so , the answer is yes, Windows Xp SP2 with Direct X 9.0c installed just checked toda at uni..
A quick google search shows mostly gamers and speech ocx users have this problem.
Go to www.dependencywalker.com, download the latest version of dependency walker, open AveDesk.exe with it, save a report as avadesk.dwi and upload it somewhere so that we can analyze the probelm.
Probably something 98'ish has entered the setup - the question is what.

To aid a portable AveDesk, i will prob try that program out and submit a report based on the University's computers. Luckily the program is portable , as all programs that requires installation has been blocked by admins. :/

ill also have to wait till tomarrow, just came back from school. ive loaded that program on my thumb drive and will upload the script tomarrow.

I need the complete log of a profile run. Instructions:
- Exit all running Avedesks.
- Open it in depends.exe as you already did.
- Click on (Main Menu) Profile, Start Profiling.
- In the following popup dialog, check all checkboxes
- Click OK.
- Avedesk should be running now - let it run until it crashes
- Now return to depends.exe and save the .dwi
However, I doubt that AveDesk will run on such a restricted environment flawlessly,
there may be code in AveDesk that needs write access to a restricted area.
If there is further interest, we could review the installation process and runtime
behavior and repackage it into a live CD image that only requires write access to the logged on users temp directory.

Only write-access to %APPDATA%/AveDesk is needed. Onl when installing desklets/plugins, there is of course write-access needed to the folder.

Sorry mate, didn't really know how to use the program properly, anyway, can't do another copy as it's my week off at uni, but i'm sure DpSleep's file version of dependancy is just as good and will help the process of the problem.
