Ok, so, this is the situation I'm in: I bought a G4 iPod August 2004. August 2005, the hard drive broke, and I had to get a new one. When I replaced my first iPod, I bought an Apple Care thing. Now, two months later, my new iPod is having the exact same problem which lead me to getting it. This time, when I go to replace it, I was wondering if I would be able to upgrade to a G5 (same retail price as what I paid for my G4).
Any idea if I'd be able to?

Yeah you are in a bad situation...talk to the retailer...it'll be easier if you've bought it from a shop (where the people might actually remember you...and can hear out your situation, and sympathise)...otherwise :slant:

its acutally pretty weird. my friend had the same thing and you're likely to get the G5.
just make sure youre going to apple's retailer (not bestbuy, etc.). that applecare thing should definitely take care of that problem (and that "2 times the same problem" should pass for you to get a new G5). if they at first the employee doesn't let you get one ("only the manager can approve of this") then just explain it to the manager.
be persistent and keep arguin like "they're both the same price.." **** like that.
it won't work unless you're a hot girl and start rubbing on a guy (most of the time)... because even if they took your broken g4, nobody wants a g4. who the feck wants a g4 b&w when you get a video one x1.5 storage for same price? the best case scenario- you get a 10% apple store discount. then tell them you're a student and for 200$ you got an ipod in the bag.

Apple doesn't re-sell iPods... they burry them in New Jersey.

I just formatted my iPod and now all the folders are gone and I'm having a !Folder icon on the screen. Can someone zip the folders and please, please, please send it to me? PREASE!

there are folders when you click on the iPod icon in My Computer that say "Notes" "Contacts" "To do" and maybe some others, but there is also one hidden folder that holds a bunch of other stuff, so I'd probably need that too.
yeah it's called ipod software. it's the thing that made the ipod work and updates the OS. that's how you can use it with windows it should be in the ipod folder

Yes. Thank you. You have made yourself abundantly clear. Besides, I've seen people pay much more for a used iPod (on ebay) then if they were just to go out and buy a new one. Don't ask me why.

No, it's firmware that came with your install CD. Do you know where that is? I'm not sure if it's mirrored on Apple's website, but I suppose it's worth hunting down...
