[Question] Media center

I know Windows have Media Center XP but requires a hardware to be purchased and apple has the new Front Row for G5s

Are there any applications such as those that works and looks somewhat the same way as those hardware based softwares out there ?

I wish someone could make a PC version of Front Row... That would be bad arse...

Try Media Portal - it's open source and free. There's also Meedio that does basically the same thing.

i've used mediaportal and it's too buggy right now to be truly effective...

i believe that they're recoding a bunch of it to be released in a new beta come november

Well if you buy a standard Pinnacle mediacenter, it ships with software, almost identical to the media center part. you can get a 110i for less than 100$.
