Request For New Docklet.

Hey All..

I would like a Magic 8-ball in my dock.

Am i the only one?

You ask the "magic 8-ball" a question, and then press, and it give you an answer to your question.

The answers could be:

"Yes"

"No"

"Of Course"

"Never"

"Maybe"

"Not In A Million Years, Pal"

"Theres a Chance"

"What do you think I am, psychic?"

"Sometimes"

"Not a chance!"

"If you're lucky"

and so on....

Could this be done?

What do you guys think?

Why dont you mac-leets list all the dock apps on the mac, so the developers can see if they want to port them.

Also, couldnt the docklet be made to spit out random quotes, like BSD "fortunes". Theres thousands of fortunes quotes out there, and they're in regular text files, so it shouldnt be too hard to use them.

Theres lots of useless things we can do with a random "something" generator.

Another idea..... Some sort of Icon like "X-Eyes" where its got eyes (or something) as the icon, and it follows your mouse, that would be neat.

PS. Its cool that we can use the word "port" now, Apple must be rolling in their grave.

PPS. Still hoping for the Genie Effect. (Y)

It's a plastic ball with water inside and an inner floating ball. You ask a question , shake it and the floating inner ball will show up saying Yes, No , maybe. It's a dumb gimmick. In pool the 8-ball makes you loose the game if you place it in the pocket (bad fate).

How can the guy give away the source code and say its not freeware?

Whats he gonna do, sue people when they use the code he gives away? :lol:

I suppose theres some legal rights he still has, but jeez, he's so petty. He should release it under BSD liscence like every other Mac thing. That still allows a "readme" type file to have to be distributed.

I'm far from being a programmer, but i think its a simple code to do isnt it?

to pick up a line from the list randomly, and have it pop up in a dialog box or a minimalistic window.
