WMPCDD - Windows Media Player CD Display (version 2.8) - Updated!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Alright my friends. The time is now. Marquee for both Windows Media Player AND iTunes is now available! Many new updates in this release as well but the show stopper is the inclusion of iTunes. Even more, you can change the media player on the fly. Run both if you want, Marquee will switch between them without a hitch.*

Also included in the release are a few bug fixes, auto-saving desired media player/skin and a few tweaks under the hood. Now access the Marquee menu even if a player isn't running.

Just in case you had trouble before setting things up, I've now switched to using an installer which will do everything for you - including resgistering the dlls. All you have to do is enable the plugin (if you want to use Marquee with WMP) once the installation is complete. That's it! It'll even add a shortcut to itself in your start menu.

Download the full program from DeviantArt and enjoy!

This is long awaited. Thank you. I dont use WMP for much of anything, but this is nice to have

#324512

I can't seem to get this to work. I registered the .dll and it still does not display the album art or track info. It also seems that mine is version 1.0.

#324548

thanks, works great here.

Hilloki: There was a problem detecting WMP running that could occur when using version 1.0. I've updated it at DeviantArt to fix this problem. Please re-download and see if this works for you.

To the others that have downloaded this and enjoy it - thankyou very much. Look forward to more to come in the very near future.

#324565

New Update!! This should solve everyone's problem. Again, please make sure you have registered the dll files and that the uIce plugin is 'ENABLED' in Windows Media Player.

Also, this will only pick up on Album Art named Folder.jpg - Any other naming schemes will not be displayed. The Cover lookup will only work if you are connected to the internet AND if Amazon.com has the album in their database.

As always let me know if there any bugs in this new update. Please, if you have any suggestions let me know about them as well.

this is awesome, i've wanted something like this no i just have to find some more music art :) good job

#331469

Another update and this one's a big one! Many new features added (see first post for the complete list). The next release will include a Skinning feature so look forward to that.

Also, this is the time to add your suggestions on other features you would like to see included for the final 2.0 release!

@Fenixtx: There are several great programs that will automatically add album art to your collection. I've added the one I use that seems to do pretty well. Included in the zip is a small batch file you put in the media folder - this is the file you run. Also included is my subscription ID to amazon.com if you don't already have one. You will need to add this to ACD before running the batch file.

It seems more complicated then it really is. There are plenty more out there. Just give google a search for Amazon Cover Downloaders and you'll find some.

Updated with skinning capabilities. Please see first post for link to download.

the program works great, thx. but everytime i use the right mouse button to change something, the taskbar controls is disappearing. the only way to bring it back is to restart the prog.

maybe there is an easy solution...

# edit: it works when i uncheck the option "show taskbar always in front"

#344459

Yes - the controls aren't actually part of the taskbar. They hover above it unfortunately. Hopefully it's not too much of a bother.

#344477

hi again...

i have another question! is there a way to move the "taskbar controls" from top to bottom?

because the solution to uncheck the "show taskbar always in front" option is not the best for me. and it would be easier for me (depend of other appz) to leave the taskbar on top and move the controls to bottom.

thx a lot

patstome

#345108

Yes - it wouldn't be too hard to add this feature in. I will see what I can do and add it to the next release.

Question: are you able to use the 'Configure Marquee...' window? I believe there might have been a problem with it not being selectable. Let me know and I'll update.

#345163

yes i can use it - right click on the (perfect) symbol in the systray, and it work very fine.

and i thought it could be hard, but do your best i count on you :P

#345168

Can you select the context menu from the album display? Not that it really matters, the update will fix that, but I like have things redundant just in case someone likes to hide systray icons and whatnot...

no i cant select the context menu from the album display.

an another thing is a bit strange - but maybe this should be.

if i click exit on the icon in systray, this icon is disappearing and the little dialog box is shown where i have to choose "close" as well to suspend it definately...

should it be like that?

ps. happy new year

#345407

I thought the menu wasn't working on the album cover in that release. It's been fixed in this new release as well as the 'exit' bug where it closed down Windows Media Player instead of Marquee.

New Updates!!!

You will notice a lot of new updates to this release. The biggest being that from now on Marquee will be trialware. You will be allowed to use Marquee as you normally have without any crippling of any sort for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks, Marquee will be disabled (along the lines of Styler).

You then will be able to purchase the uncrippled version for 5 dollars Australian through Paypal. This works out to about 3 dollars US which I believe is a very reasonable price to ask.

What do I get for my 3 dollars you are probably asking? Well for starters you get the excellent program Marquee with 4 themes to start you off. Also, you get free updates for a year and unlimited technical support for the life of the program.

The program itself is completely skinnable and configurable and with more themes to come out regularly will always fit your tastes. Also, the creating of skins couldn't be easier. Simply follow the templates and you'll have your own skin to match whichever theme your running.

Also planned in the very near future is the integrating support for iTunes, Winamp and possibly Foobar. The display of lyrics has now been implemented courtesy of AstraWeb Lyrics Search Engine. The menu has now been streamlined and added upon to include the opening of URLs and playlists.

So try it out. Take it for a test run. Kick the tires. Do whatever you want for your free 2 weeks and if at the end of your trial you're as impressed and excited about the program as I am, send me an email and I'll give you the full details on how you can purchase this one-of-a-kind* program.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*one-of-a-kind is in reference to album art display programs that work with Windows Media Player and not in the general sense of the idea.

#345787

Coming soon to a desktop near you. Marquee 2.8 will control both Windows Media Player AND iTunes. You've heard right! And this is not all that's to come. Winamp and Foobar support to follow shortly.

Download will be available tomorrow! Stay tuned.

#348442

any ETA on foobar support? currently i use iTunes as my main player but only because of herd's excellent itunes50.dll plugin for RK Launcher. I love to set foobar as my main player and still get the cover art display and other features of this plugin

#353643

The link is outdated. Could you provide a new link?

I need album cover and song title show and hide like toaster plugin for Winamp. Can your plugin do that with WMP?
