12' PowerBook, is this posible?

Hi, well first of all, sorry for my english, is not my mother language, i just have one doubt, im seriously thinking in buying a 17' powerbook, because besides it has the best OS in the WORLD!, it has a video card of 128, so i think i wont have problems for games, but my problem is that is to expensive, so i thought i buy the 12' powerbook and then i change the video card is this posible?

and i thought this too, to buy a 12 inch and then a powerful PC Desktop for games..

Sorry, but you can't change video cards in notebooks/laptops because they are soldered onto the motherboard...

why you want buy mac now? soon it'll be obsolete.

wait , and next year ,you can buy much better Intel mac,

just pray steve don't charge 'insanely' high price for it.

If you get one, wait a week. On the 12th, the PowerBooks will be updated one last time before shifting to Intel. Also, an Intel PowerMac will be released. These are rumors, but they seem credible.

If you need it, get one now. I've read that the macintels aren't going to be any more expensive than the Power PC's they have now. Plus, don't you think there will be problems with the macintels? I'm sure there will be a slue of problems at first. So, I'd say if you need the Powerbook now, get it. If you can stand to wait a few years, then wait it out.

Can i borrow that crystal ball of your's? I'd like to see what future brings and you seem to be pretty confident in what you're saying :slant:

Unbe what the guy posted is prob correct,

You name 1 first rev of any mac that didn't have some sort of serious problem.

#325750

I too would also get it now.... Those new GFX Cards are looking mighty sweet on the PBs.... ALL OF THEM. Besides, you can always get an Intel Desktop later, which will be able to run windows AND games either immediately, or after a week of cracking.

It depends on what you call serious ;)

But seriously, 5% of bad machines doesn't make it a "slue of errors". It's a standard margin for error in the tech industry.

Also i don't know of any serious problem on Rev A/B/C PowerMacs.

Slightly OT, but was the price difference always this steep between the 12" and 15" (and 15" and 17")?

I don't remember it being as much as a $500 difference, but I could be mistaken.

It always was that steep... I'm just happy that they reduced the 21in monitor by 200 bucks (planning to buy a 12in PB w/ 23in monitor).
