[req] Artificial Resoultion Changer

Im not sure if this is possible, but my parents are dead set on a 800x600 resolution, but it doesn't fit my needs. But if anyone help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Search for multires.

I use it to have different resolutions on different accounts.

Example

"C:Program FilesMultiResMultiRes.exe" /1024,768,32 /exit

Yep, someone here encountered a similar problem a while ago. MultiRes was the general consensus.

If you and your parents have different accounts, you can set a batch file to load in each account's startup--yours will load whatever resolution you want, and your parents will load 800*600.

Just stick the code Ave gave you in a batch file, and change the paramters to what you want.

If you need more help, PM me.

Hope this works!

on a similar note - i bought a new computer recently, with 17" flat monitor, and was disappointed to find that the monitor's maximum resolution was 1024 x 768... with my previous machine, i had a CRT monitor and was accustomed to running much higher resolutions.

does anyone at least know why the max resolution is so low? just wondering.

You think that's disappointing? I have a 21" flat monitor, and it's maximum resolution is 1280*1024 or thereabouts.

Not sure what's up with that :/

if by 17" flat you mean 17" TFT, $100 says its native (and therefore the only decent-looking) resolution is 1280x1024, but windows doesn't recognize it as such and only offers standard resolutions. try to find a driver for your monitor (it should have come with it on a cd) or just select "update drivers" and "choose from a list", and select any 17" TFT monitor you find on the list (e.g. samsung 17x or 7xx).

if you don't know what i'm talking about, then please have someone more experienced help you.

I've a 19" LCD that only goes up to 1280. I make up for it by running dual monitors. :)

Another thing you might look into is KeepUserDisplaySettings, assuming you're on XP and have your own user profile.
