Isaw

Hey guys,

Spent some time today to make this movie player, which is really minimalistic. Im afraid I cant post a screenshot because frankly my screenshot app sucks :D

But please check it out, I think its really nice;

Please comment with your thoughts ;)

Excellent program Alilm!!

May I just suggest using the "F1" key to access the keyboard shortcut that shows when you first run the app. That way, we would only need to press that help key if we forget the commands. (I forget so easily... I'm really getting old. :canadian: )

Will you be able to remove that initial full screen effect when you first run the program? Oh... and would it be possible to make it remember the size and position when it was last used?

Thank you very much. I like this a lot. (Y)

Hehe, everything you guys asked for (most of it) is now implemented in this new version;

This is a great little player !!! I only have one request. A way to the video and keep the aspect ratio correct. If this could do that, this would be a perfect video player. I hate all the extract crop in all the other media players.

Again, great job !!!!

Fast work Alilm... Maybe I should give you more difficult tasks. hehe ;)

The save position doesn't work on a dual-screen setup. It works quite well on the Single monitors though. Otherwise, This is extremely great!

Now for some other tasks. :evil grin: :dr_evil:

How about a full screen option either by pressing another function key, double-clicking on the iSaw window or both.

... Dang... I can't think of anymore stuff to do with it. This thing is good as DONE. :D

FatAxl: The aspect-ratio correction is already built-in. Just press the shift key. But if you mean correct aspect while you resize, yeah... Do that too Alilm.

By the way guys, try this. Run iSaw and before you press F5 to load a video, press the shift key... Ding. Really tiny video window. hehe.

Download iSaw 1.03

Ok ive fixed a few bugs and changed some minor stuff;

-Title bar now says the filename instead of the file path

-Smaller file size

-Fixed the tiny window problem

I decided not to implement Full screen mode, it was more trouble that its worth, same with the resizing + keeping aspect ratio. Sorry guys.

#29633

sweet app alilm!

hehe, keep it up !

suggestions:

how about completely removing the border of your window, and ad a titlebar with the current visual style a user is using (as you know), with minimal buttons of play, stop, backwards, forward, and load? - if a user wouldnt like to have that bar of buttons, s/he can always use the keys you assigend to the app and be able to choose either to show/hide that bar.

If you decide to do so, try to make the bottom bar (with the buttons) round edged. (Y)

I hear great things about iSaw and I don't doubt it but on my machine iSawNothing. What am I doing wrong ? Any of the components are supposed to go to a Windows Folder ? got Nvidia card is that a problem ? Tried the F6,F7,F8 buttons & nothing happens.

Never fear, I have a nVIDIA card and it works fine. It sounds like you didnt hit the F5 key, which is kinda crucial :D

Hit F5 while the app is in focus and it will open a Load file dialog.

Heres a lil pic of it working DV.

#29652

Thanks Alilm!

Talk about minimalist ? Forgot about F5. It will play VOB files which are DVD-MPEG2, so I guess so long as you have the "encoders" installed in the computer it will play practically anything (no RealMedia ".rm" & probably no QuickTime .mov or .qt haven't tested it) but most native standard files are OK.

Thanks a lot!!! Great Start and even better support.

nice app almost seems to rival http://videolan.org

Lol if your gonna look at it that way then this app rivals every media application.

Hi Alilm i tried your app it looks pretty cool!

Here's my wishlist!

I miss a option for a progressbar, it would be cool to have

a bar that comes in sliding when you mouse over your movie...

That way it doesn't trash the minimalistic view.

And if possible remove the borders so i only have my

movie and my shadow.

Love your work!

Very cool app I like it very much! Thank you Alilim!

As suggestion I also think a borderless window would be beautiful!

Thanks again!

Very nice program. I registered today to comment on it cause I love it so much! Very simple easy to use... pretty fast video rendering. Please keep up the great work! I have a question and a few suggestions to make. First the question. What video codecs does it support? I already have DivX 5.0.5, Xvid, 3ivx, WMP9, and Quick time installed on my machine so I'm not sure if its using my own codecs or its all self contained. I guess I'm asking what movie types will it play if this is the only media player on my computer? Only MPEG, WMV and such or does it play Divx and xvid and such too?

A few suggestions:

1. Add an options dialog box with buttons to change settings like;

Video size (Orginial, Half-Size, Double-Size, Full Screen)

Video Boarder (On or OFF) as people have suggested above

Control Bar (On/Off/Top of player/Bottom of player)

2. Small control bar appearing on the top or bottom that has icon buttons for things like Play, Pause, Progress Bar, Mute, Load File

I feel that implementing these features will make this program even better and more people will download and use it as their primary player. I'm using it right now to watch a Divx film while I type this having it set to Always on Top and tried to judge the ratio to about half the normal size... its sitting in the top right corner just before the minimize, maximize, close bottons and its great... Please continue to improve this great tool!

wow!, very nice application, thanks very much to share with us

#30355

neat app, just uses too much cpu but its great that it works. i remember when i poked around w/ video on lan (?) i couldn't get it to play some stuff correctly.

i use bsplayer for videos. media player classics and bsplayer are both pretty good and full of features. however bsplayer can do borderless play and hide the controls. here's a shot of it:

iTunes-bsplayer.thumb.jpg

i ported itunes skin to it. msg me if anyone want it.

i think it is perhaps pointless to make an application for aesthetics if it can be done w/ other apps already. unless you plan to add some feature no one else has i'm not sure why you would want to do that (other than learn how to do it).

Alright...I have a good idea if you want to set this apart from other apps.

(Awsome work BTW)

work on a minimize to dock option...so we can have a little borderless movie running in the dock!

Although I am a big fan of Mobydock maybe Y'z would be good for this seeing that it now has docklet support.

Would turn this into a much MUCH larger project, but it sure would be a fun direction to go with it all!

Great App! :own:

very nice work on this minimal media player :0

#31014

Can this play DiVX files? I really need a lite app for those.

#31034

it sure can! i've ripped a few dvds to keep on my comp (no i do NOT share them, don't worry...) and i always encode in divx and they play perfectly fine with this wonderful little app ;)

#31036

alilm are you still working on this cool app... if you put some extra futures on it, it would kick ass.. !

#31057

Very f***ing nice Alilm!!!!!!

Do you have the Codec installed on your computer? Or is it built in?

#31214

I'm pretty sure you have to have all the codecs in your computer. I got MPEG2/VOB on my computer which allows iSaw to play them .
