[HELP] Which iMac G5 to choose

Hi guys!

I'm going to buy an iMac G5. But I need a piece of advice from experienced mac users.

I'm trying to make up my mind to one of these models:

1) M9249*/A: Apple iMac 17 G5 1.8GHz/80GB/SD/Nvidia GeForce FX5200 64Mb + replace standard 256 MB with 2GB of RAM

2) M9844: Apple iMac 17 G5 2.0GHz/512Mb/160Gb/SD/BT/AP/ATI Radeon 9600 128MB + add 512Mb to get 1GB in total

I now the second one has an AirPort Card and a Bluetooth module built in. But I'm not planning to use wireless networking at home, so that AirPort Card is absolutely useless for me. And Bluetooth... yeah, it's pretty nice thing, but not a must-have for me.

Primarily I need your advice on all those performance (overall and gaming performance) things: what is better to get: 0.2 GHz more powerful CPU and 64 MB more powerful VGA Card, or 2GB of RAM instead of 1GB with a bit less powerful CPU and graphics units?

I know, the easiest way to solve my problem is to buy the second option and get 2Gb of RAM. But unfortunately this solution doesn't suit me, because the money I've got for buying a Mac would be enough only for one of the options above.

Help me, please! Which one should I choose?

If you're into gaming then you're probably better with a console.

As for performance, i'd go with a 2.0/128MB Radeon combo simple cause you can always get more RAM later and 512 is decent for starters.

As the others have said, 1gb of ram is plenty to start with and you will definitely want the better graphics card.

I agree you should get the second one, to reiterate what Unbe said you can always upgrade the ram, and 1 GB should do you fine.

into gamming and better of with of a console hahahahaha lmfao!!!!!! wat a ****!!!! for startes console ****!! u know wat xbox has....a geforce 3 ps2? something about the rage......see i am a real gamer so i have a X800XL with 512Mb of GDDR3 now that's gamming kid! and when u get a mac (which is a very good idea) u must remember that u only can play opengl game ( that have a port which most of them do)

I'm looking for a computer to I only have a mac mini right know but I want to graduate to a bigger mac- I never look into iMac G5 is that any good, the only computer i'm focusing on right now is the PowerMac G5, but people are saying waiting for intel version might be best, so everything is still up in the air for me. :confused:
