i think he wants the executables (if there is such a thing in osx) so he can do updates from a cd instead of the 'software update' link on the apple menu.

simple question. i'm update my Tiger and want to save updates on CD. Is it "bad"? I didn't like to download ~200Mb again, in case i reinstall Tiger.
If you didn't know - please make your own thread and tell what you want.
theres no way that i know of.. but ive never heard of mac updates being 200mb. maybe 70mb at best .. and everytime they do an update, it includes all the previous updates if you didnt have them before..
so say if you update to 10.4.3 . that includes all the updates included with 10.4.1 and 10.4.2 wrapped up in a 68.7mb package.
however you can download the quicktime/itunes/iphoto and other updates separately..
apple updates their software so frequently, that id think it would be a waste to save each individual update to disk. just suck it up and deal with the 30 minutes it may take to download and install.
its not a single update... its a pack. 10.4 -> 10.4.3 is about 60Mb as you say. Itunes/iDVD/etc - > another 100+ Mb. I read somewhere that if not silent-install updates - they are saves on HDD... but i can't remember where i read this...
Well, Apple posted 10.3.9 in its "Downloads" section. I hear 10.4.3 is gonna be really big, so maybe they'll do the same....
Want to say i have to download it from Apple site? no... I want to find it on my local HDD. If i run Software Update and download it once - i should be able to find them... I'm sure i read one post with info where to look for...
why don't you try file|find and search for files over...oh, say...50mb. then try to figure out what's what.
I am sure you can download the disk image update, toast it and try it. I don't know if it will work though.

You can download all the updates from Apple site (here is a link to 10.4.2 update - http://searchcgi.apple.com/cgi-bin/sp/nph-searchpre11.pl) just make a search on the downloads part in Apple site. I hope that what you want

in all this time, you could have reformatted and downloaded the updates at least 50 times already..

As I say go to Apple site to the Download section, and download the updates installers, burn them and after you format your Mac just install the updates from the disc you made.

You can also go:
Apple > Software Update > Update > Install and Keep Package
which will update your machine and keep the installer file.
