(Help)Converting Mac theme's

Hi everybody, is there any sort of app to convert Mac themes to Windows, Or more specifically Windowblinds. Because there are not really many new themes for windowblinds and i fancy a change from Samui.

Thanks :D

(Edit... I do not want to release any of the themes that I port, or post any screenshots, just use them for my personal use)

you can't convert mac themes but you can 'port'(use pictures and elements within the theme and copy them into your new theme) them

What Program do you use for that, I am a bit useless when it comes to skinning, I thought there might have been some sort of program, but it seems there isnt but I can have a bash

Thanks ;)

The program you use to port them is the one i put up ;)

you either rip skin components from screenshots

or you ask a mac user to extract the actual resources for you using themepark and/or guikitty and rebuilt it using skinstudio

Oh, Ok thanks CDi2

You don't.

You be respective and wait for the original creator to allow permission for a public port.

I'm not trying to steal anybodys work, but some authors dont let certain themes be ported because of the rippers, but surley as long as I don't release it, post any screenshots or say I created it, like certain skinners, I'm not harming anybody.

To port a theme from OSX to WIndows, you would need a Mac or at least PearPC with ThemePark to extract the images from the original themes, then use SkinStudio (for Windowblinds) or StyleBuilder (for msstyle) to port the theme using the extracted resources.

There will be no problem as long as you don't distribute/release unreleasable themes :)

Correct me if i'm wrong people.

What's that supposed to mean? :slant:

Anyways, scottee, you can "port" a Mac theme to Windows using Skinstudio. That's only IF you ask permission to the original author that you will use his resources for your work. And NEVER release a port unless the author grants you permission to do so. Just remember, people devoted their time and effort in creating beautiful themes, so be considerate enough not to rip their work and claim it as yours. ;)

I dunno, maybe if you port a theme you like, and not release it or share it with others, there's no problem with that. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

Have a nice day!

What people do on their own computer shouldn't be a problem. It's the sharing that's wrong ;)

Thanks for your help everyone, I just have one more question, how on earth do you position the buttons on the left hand side, using skinstudio, because whenever i try it the buttons end up in the middle. Have currently got everything sorted bar the buttons on left hand side and the roll up button. I was hoping somebody could give me the dimensions or something.

Please help somebody
