Minimize In Place

There has been a hack going around from one of the OSX betas which allows instead of minimizing to the dock to minimize where the window last was then you can arrange to where you want. Creating little snapshots on your desktop that have drop shadows on them which dissapear when you restore the application.

I was thinking that this would be nice as a little aqua program for XP. It could be called something like iMin or iMinimize. There was a litestep module one time similar to this idea which used regular icons one time.

I think this would be a neat little project to compliment some docks, especially Y'z Dock. I'd actually prefer this way to having the icon in the dock change to a snapshot.

thats an interesting idea. <_< and although my opinion is for the running tasks to b in the dock, i see other may like this as an alternative.

Actually I wouldn't see this as an alternative to running tasks on the dock rather it is a supplement. One thing it could replace is turning the task into a snapshot though. :naughty:

Actually I mostly like the look of this idea and coming from my Enlightenment days I still like the idea of "iconifying" windows.

Oh yeah, when you use that on OSX, it even genies in place. So if you use windowfx animations on XP you could have the animation just execute in the place you are minimizing and it should look like it's genieing or whatever to the place it's supposed to easily.

I would love to see this. I don't think a transition would be absolutely neccessary but it would be a nice bonus.

Oh I wasn't asking for a transition, I was just saying if you use windowfx it could work well with this.
