Suggestion: "projects" Thread

Hi all,

I have a suggestion for the board. It appears to me that every once in a while a few people start working on the same thing. Quite often, this happens because they do not know about each other doing the same work. Thats why I would suggest a thread where everyone tells the community who is doing what. Like: "Lynchknot: Safari themes". Or "Finder Replacement shell by FinderXP team"... Something like that.

That way, anyone who considers doing omehting might first check if something similar is already in progress. If so, (s)he could get in contact with the people already at work. They might still decide not to work together on that projct, but at least know about each other. And they have the chance to communicate about the topic and might even be able to help each other with a similar problem.

One example are the three docks we have. Of course, competition is good, but imagine a dock with the benefits of Y'z and Moby's dock in one? A DX9-accelerated - Doc with an SDK for docklings? If only they had worked together from the start :woot: !

There might be other drawbacks to that idea that I dont see at this time. However, I should think the idea to get organized a bit in this community should be at least considered and discussed. What do you think??

its a reasonable idea, But how about mayb pinning a topic in Aqua Apps? something like... "Current Projects". where only the app developer has permission to post (everything else is deleted), and they only post the name of the app with a brief description?

interesting idea.

One problem that pops up in my head is that someone will have to keep an eye on that certain forum/thread, for orginizing and preventing too much unnecessary posts with it..Dunno.

Second thing i affraid of the most is people announcing/teasing and then disappearing from the scene. Its one of the reasons A/S got so lame in the begining of this year. People were coming out loud with their plans for big stuff ahead so others were stalling their future plans and the rest were just waiting. The result of that was complete bordom and anarchy in the board.

These things really happend.

So yeah, we've had quite a few of those who acted that way, however NOWADAYS, unfortunatly/fortunatly i have my eye on them. They can/should feel me breath freezing up the back of their neck by now. hopefully they prove themselves out.

So we'll see about that idea - so far, i dont have any firm opinion about it.

yea good point, hadnt thought of that. when development on some of those app seemed to stop i was kinda disapointed, but im sure the author had a "good" reason.

P.S. can i suggest moving this topic down to "Comments & Suggestions"?
