My external USB 2 HD won't unmount!!!

I added a desklet pointing to my external hard drive. It won't unmount (eject) when avedesk is still running. How do I fix this? I can only unmount my external hard drive if I close avedesk first.

I know some people have problems with AveDesk when their sublabel reads the drive information (like freespace/number of files/etc). Try searching through the AveDesk bug threads to see if there was a fix, I think there was, but I don't remember what.

Does your desklet use sublabels that access drive info? If so, try turning them off, and see if that fixes the problem or not.

Ok, I'll try

let us know if it works...I have the same problem

Worked for me :)

Yeah, that's not really all that great a solution, 'cause now you don't have sublabel functionality, but hey, if it lets you unmount, I guess it's worth it, huh?

Sure is, I'll just wait for a fix :)

Strange, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I still have to close avedesk before I can eject my external usb 2 HD. :(

Instead on shelling out the money for an external hard drive, you can buy a USB 2.0 enclosure for about 20 USD (Dealsonic.com) and use any old IDE hard drive. Or, if you have an extra laptop hard drive, you can buy a laptop enclosure for about 10 USD.

While you're at it you can buy a brand new computer just to make sure AveDesk is perfectly suited for those hard working leechers (i mean users) of AS. ;)
