Recommendation from a ****ie

Hello Guys,

Got a recommendation for ya. I have been registered at this forum for around 3-4 months now, and hardly done any post. I was flung here by the fact that this skin for VB is excellent, and want to donate for the vb3.5 version of it.

Ok so thats how I got here. But in 4 month I have done very little posts, and as a forum admin myself, I know you wanna turn members into active-members. Now I have just started posting, and would like to become a regular member of this site, because I have found out what you guys are all about. I thought you was a mac forum, full stop, and since I havent got a mac (shame on me) then I havent posted.

So there`s my suggestion. You need something on the forumhome that shows what you`s are about, either visually, or in text. Just a thought, as I know I would appreciate being shown the reasons why 0-posters ain`t postin on my site.

Hmm .. that was suppose to say n.e.w.b.i.e ... can`t understand why it`s starred it out LMAO

Perhaps the front page would be a better indicator of what you're looking for. As for the graphics, we don't want to kill our host.

Preview graphics would be GREAT for newsposts but in the end, a waste of bandwidth and time.

Thank you for bringing this idea to our attention in a well thought-out manner, something many of our Unbe-Grubs can't do.

while it would be nice to have such a thing, really...if you didn't know this was an aqua emulation forum why would you be here?

I understand what you're suggesting and I'm all for it, but who on the staff could I get to write up such a thing?

I plan on getting this site into shape, no more sections that lead to no where, it will be a complete site, complete skin, detail...

Can see your point there Timan... I know the time it takes to do these things must be a helluva lot, and can see that you already have your hands full with vb3.5 + IPB both having new versions at exactly the same time... Was just what I saw as a new guy, that would have most definatly stayed around more, had I known what the site was about ...

And on that point, my comp looks 10 times better now LMAO

I think you can easily tell what sort of site this is by lookign at the news posts and by lookign at the categories and topics in the forums.

I don't think we need to change this at all.

That's just my three err two cents.

i think the forums should be well not recreated but renamed and recategorized for smoother running and fix the links and resources buttons please i click them i i just get sent to the mainpage

@MacRevolution: the links/resources buttons don't have anything to link to yet. Timan hasn't made those pages, so he just has them link to the frontpage.

And I think they're categorized pretty well right now.

If I had content to put on those pages, they'd work. Problem is, I am not into this aqua customizing stuff so I really wouldn't know what to put in there, hell if you asked me how to change your icons I'd have to say search the forums, I'm so out of the customizing scene. Just need some submited content I guess.

@wuzzie .... That in my opinion is part of the problem .. You need to look at the posts to find out what it`s all about ....

If I came here from google, from a link to an iconset, would I know that it was a forum for aquaskinning? From experience I would say no, and ur missing picking up some good members through it. I signed up 4 month ago and the only reason I came back is because vb3.5 is gonna be released, and I would like to donate to timan for the skin. Other than that I don`t think I would have done. However I`m glad I did

Suggestion:- Simple answer in my opinion would be where it says aqua-soft.org .. Put something underneath along the lines of 'ultimate mac emulation' ..... It instantly tells someone who`s browsing what the forum is about

so im just curious...why do u even keep this community open if you have no interests in it? dont get me wrong im glad u do, but it seems to me it would be much more hassel than u would want to put up with ... if your not interested.
