Difference between latest and older iPods

Hi everybody

I’m about to purchase an iPod from a store of questionable ethics (the one Unbe b*tched about too). With the introduction of fifth (?) generation only two months ago, I’m concerned they might try to sell an older model they had in stock for the price of a new one.

So, give me some telltale signs of new iPods. I know about the color screen, but what about labels, engravings, packaging? I want to be sure before I spit out my 360 euros.

Oh and by the way, what other improvements does the latest generation bring, beside the color screen? Does the battery last longer?
