SysStats 2.5.7 isn't running w/ ObjectDock Plus 1.20.522u

The older version of SysStats (I think i was running 2.0) worked w/ my ObjectDock Plus 1.20. I closed ObjectDock, expanded the SysStats257 zip file to the C:Program FilesStardockObjectDock directory. When I try to add a SysStats item, ObjectDock closes.

I searched for similar problems but couldn't seem to find anything. Please excuse me if this resolution is already posted.

thanks in advance

Not much help, but I've got exaclty your combo of SysStats & OD+ and they are working fine.

It's possibly a misconfigured docklet causing a problem - simply installing SysStats with no docklets configured on OD+ shouldn't cause any problems.

Are you using some of the other docklets that come with OD (some are SysStats docklets but not all)? If so you might need to remove them from OD until you can get it stable and start from there.

I suggest the following:

Unload OD

Remove the SysStats installation & dlls

Load OD & Remove any docklets

Unload OD

Reinstall SysStats

Load OD & see if it runs

Try adding a SysStats docklet & load ing a basic config (eg clock)

No, even if I start with only a single new and empty dock and try to Add a SysStats object, it closes. This is a new installation of Windows XP with all the service packs. I've also tried this on three other machines all running the most current XP patches, Object Dock Plus v1.20.522u and SysStats 2.5.7

Damn. And as soon as I post a reply, I find a second SysStatsCOM.dll located in the Docklets directory. Is it possible that Object Dock Plus is installing SysStats and placing the dll there?

I'm reasonably sure that *some* version of SysStats is supplied with OD+. You need to install SysStats 2.5.7 such that the old files are overwritten/updated. The folder structure in the SysStats zip file matches that under the ObjectDock folder. I'd go as far as deleting the all exisiting files related to SysStats & copy again from the zip file. The SysStatsCOM.dll in the docklets directory shouldn't be there (IME) - on my system it's in the ObjectDock directory only (same as it's heirarchy in the ZIP file). There *is* a SysStats.dll in the SysStats directory - this is normal.

Make sure OD+ is unloaded before you delete/copy any of the SysStats files.

You may need to manually register the SysStatsCOM.dll as follows: regsvr32 SysStatsCOM.dll (do this before loading OD+).

I'm having a very similar problem with OD+ (v1.1.0.517) and SysStats 2.5.7

If I don't add any docklets to the tabbed dock, it runs happily but about ten minutes after a I add any configs to the dock (which work just fine in the meantime), first of all the config disappears, then the dock itself dies. The only config I've tried it with is a very simple network monitoring one.

So far, I've followed everthing in this post, but no joy. Any help would be appreciated. :)

It's usually due to a script problem in the docklet.

If you can identify the script part of the configuration (usually in the 'meters' tab) highlight it & click 'configure' then if a dialog pops up showing the type as VBScript click on the 'console' button. If there are error messages in there, then that's where your problem lies.

I've found it helps to unload OD ASAP after loading your docklets, then restart it (don't know why it helps, and then only sometimes).

Which network monitor docklet is it? Someone here might be able to look at it and suggest a fix...
