A PowerBook is a notebook, but if your talking about Mac vs. Windows then its up to you. It really depends on what your looking for.
powerbooks probably wont be updated until they release the mactels sometime in 2006....so a powerbook is a strong buy right now.

G4 is fine. Just depends what you need that computer for.
There is no direct comparison between PPC & x86 acrhitecture. My friend's G4 @ 867Mhz beat the crap out of my P4 @ 2.66Ghz in some operations.
And i highly doubt that Mactels will be cheaper. Where did you hear that fairytale?
17 inch Powerbook pimped out to the max is a BEAST. I know people who use it for video editing, which is very resource consuming.
Plus you get OS X, no need to explain why it should tempt you 
The ultimate portable power machine is the 12in Powerbook. Get it and you won't regret it.
I have a 4 year old laptop that is only now starting to die (ComboDrive, Display, Casing, etc.) but that's only because the previous owner roughed it up like it was nothing (probably got dropped 3 times at least, crushed under books, and other things). It is still snappy, however, despite its 550 MHz processor.
Whatever Powerbook you get, just be sure of two things. One, don't put it in a bookbag with books unless it's a good bookbag. Two, get yourself one of these.
