Installing IPB, etc on Local PC

Hey, I know this is possible but I dont know what to search for.

Anyway, what is the name of that app (or thier website) that lets you install php scripts ie forums, blogs, etc locally, for editing.

Well I suppose you need Apache Server (http://www.apache.org) , mySQL (http://www.mysql.com), PHP (http://www.php.net) and the forum software; Invision Power Board (http://www.invisionboard.com), myPHPbb (http://www.phpbb.com), vBulletin (http://www.vbulletin.com) are popular.

You know you really should have searched Google. All this information is easily available alongwith tutorials on how to set up a bulletin board system like this one at DevArticles.

It seems u need local server installation.

XAMPP will do ., its what i use for nuke themeing. http://apachefriends.org

Otherwise u can use EasyPHP , inferno.

Do a search for a program called PHPTRIAD ... it install`s all of the above three mentioned and configures them for you to save you the hassle ... About a min download and a couple of mins to install ...

I personally prefer manual installs of Apache and everything, but for a simple install, XAMPP is the way to do.

I use XAMPP too. It works well, but you can not double click a file and expect it to run. You have to either do that and refresh, or type out the path

use EasyPHP. Do a google search for EasyPHP, it works for me, but you have to close google desktop cause it thinks that it is a server.
