I have no idea where to put this but please read

Hey sorry if this is in the wrong section but this is a request.

What I am looking for is a Windows theme, that I can use for my website. We have logo images for custom icons and maybe some cool folder icons would look good as well. I would also like to use some of akkasone's Icons but I dont know how they would work in the theme. I am very new at this and could not make it myself (I have tried already for about 7 hours) The color scheme would be Red,Grey,Black,and White. With this I would also like a matching theme for the Windows Media Player or Winamp or someother applications. Please anyone help me out. You cannot use Windows themes on websites--they are two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT "platforms" and coding technologies.

This thread belongs in Web Design, but also in 3rd Party Application Skins Requests.

Anyway, what you want to do is learn a lot more about web design, so that you can code a "lookalike" site--the best example of this is flyakite's site, which is currently offline.

You need to study the web coding languages--you could probably manage all this with HTML, Javascript, and CSS--to figure this out.

Your question was misleading:

The "for" indicated you want it to be on your website--do you just want it to be located on your website, and users can apply the theme to their computers, or do you want it to be different CSS themes for the website itself?

If you want actual Windows themes, you would have to include an auto-extracting .zip or .exe file, or something of that nature. flyakite is excellent at creating those; he could probably give you a few pointers. There's also something of this nature:

It probably wouldn't be easy to do, but asking flyakite is definitely where you want to start. You'd have to learn about the NSIS installation process.

K thanks for typing in a nonenglish type of form lol. I seriously did not understand any of that. What I want is a theme then I will upload it to the hosting then I will post a download link for my members. Thats the process, so if anyone knows what to do or can help PLEASE do not hesitate.

As far as themes go, do you want to give people WindowBlinds themes, or just visual styles? Or, if you are trying to change every icon in Windows, you might want to talk to flyakite, like NC said, 'cause his OSX transformation pack does all that, and you could probably hack the resources to create something similar.

I dont understand what that means, thats the problem. But I would like it to be as much customized as possible if that makes sence

Ok, normally, WindowsXP ships with what Microsoft calls "visual styles" which are basically the colors of the start bar and progress bars and scroll bars and title bars and all the other elements that make Windows look like it does. Many authors have created visual styles which will work easily with Windows, with no real need for an external program to make them work. These styles really change very little besides the appearance of the Windows and Start Menu, and a few of the system icons (like My Computer, the basic folder icon, etc).

WindowBlinds is a program that allows a little more customization in terms of how the windows and scroll bars and Start Menu and all work, but it really is just a fancy version of visual styles, ultimately. However, it does require the program WindowBlinds (from stardock.com) to make them work.

if all you want is for people to be able to have a certain look to their windows, then you could easily just upload visual styles (which you can find all over this forum, just search) which they can download. All they have to do after that is place the visual style files in their c:windowsresourcesthemes folder, and double click, and Windows does the rest for them. Probably the simplest way to do it.

ppoppe--Your suggestion would work, except you're forgetting what most of us here take for granted--you have to crack uxtheme.dll to get non-Microsoft theme files to work, which most end-users would probably be pretty uncomfortable doing.

@24 Dunz--Find flyakite's contact information, and talk to him. Refer him to this thread, and he can get you started. However, judging by your Join Date and posts, you don't seem to be too informed about customizing. Are you facing a time limit for this website? If not, you may want to hang around, surf the forums, and then you can start learning how to create installers.

[Edit, in response to your latest post: If you don't want visual styles, all your website users would have to have WindowBlinds installed on their computers, which I wouldn't take for granted. Plus, it's a shareware program, so you couldn't just package it into any installer you might create.]

Whoa. "Red,Grey,Black,and White"? This is a *very specific request*. I'm not sure anyone here can help you without them building something for you from scratch. And just because it has the colors you've specified, doesn't mean you would be happy with the style. Add Winamp/MediaPlayer/Icons skin as well, and it would take most skin developers a long time to fill a request like this. Skin devleopment is in no way easy, or quick.

If something suitable already exists, the kind of re-distribution you talk about (bundling some skins with other skins) sounds like it might require permission from the original skin authors.

To be completely honest, I think you are somewhat out of your depth right now. I would suggest you do some research and see what's already out there. If you see something you like contact the author(s) and discuss redistribution of their work.
