Recommended P2P Programs

Since WinMX no longer works i'm looking for another P2P program to use.

I'm looking for a program that produces good search results, contains no spyware / Adware etc, and won't do anything to harm my PC.

I have heard of Soulseek. Is this any good?

What do you use?

Thanks.

www.bearshare.com/lite

No ads, bundled software, spyware, none at all

been using it forever and never lets me down!

cabos, bit torrent, shareaza, exeem, emule, etv. etvc

Soulseek probably isn't for you--it's more of a chatroom-based P2P program, so, unless you belong to a specific chatroom, you won't like it.

Other than that, I don't use any P2P, so I can't tell you much more ;)

-NC

P.S: I don't use Soulseek either, but I've used it in the past.

Limewire, eMule

#317784

Soulseek only Soulseek :)

#317785

Limewire. Emule/donkey.

#317787

LimeWeire Pro is the way to go.

Erm .. Don't know wether or not we're supposed to talk about P2P on these forums, However, WinMX is actually back up and operational.

#317850

Limewire is pretty good but ... it only allows you to d/l from eight sources at once even though there might be 45 different sources available. :/

#317871

wow satan. 45? what p2p is that? i need that! :)

As long as you don't post links to illegal stuff and talk like right now - in general - about apps, it's okay. Don't worry, I've been watching this thread from the start

No need to use P2P .. Azureus is what you need ;)

#317896

Im using LimeWire PRO

Its gr8 ;)

lol Azureus is not P2P?

#317905

No, it's a BitTorrent program.

#317912

bit torrent and DC++ is all i have ever needed. Tho dc++ is kind of useless if you dont have quite a bit to share.

Soul Seek = Great for sharing Audio files. It's noting like having to be a in chat room, but you have the choice of doing so and sharing just amongst the people in the room.

DC++ (Direct Connet) = Great all around system, but you need to share gigabytes upon gigabytes to get to hub that is good for anime and stuff. This is exactly being in a chatroom and sharing between the users. but you also need to meet the minimum share limits for each hub too. It can be anywhere from nothing to 10TB (I've seen it happen).

eMule - Pretty self explanitory

IRC - This is different from all the rest because you go through an IIRC client like mIRC and you browse FServers, lists, and especally XDCC lists. I love this option because you can download Windows Beta's easily, hard to find files on other P2P servies (Such as manga, ebooks, roms), and to a person who uses IRC on a daily basis it is extremely easy. To make it easier to find these servers and room, go on google and search "XDCC Search".

Limewire - Heard it is a lot better than it was in the 90's. ; )

Bearshare Lite - The last time I used this was back in the 90's also. I didn't think it'd still be around but I guess it is.

Shareaza - Connects to 3 different types of servers that are the same servers almost every single P2P program uses and also supports Bit Torrent. It's a very well done client but I wish it'd not take over letting me use Azuerues for Bit Torrent.

Bit Torrent - The new generation of P2P! This is great for Linux, ROMs, Anime, *cough* Warez *cough*, Betas, and anything else you want.

No, it's a BitTorrent program.

lol you still didn't get what I implied. BitTorrent is P2P. There is no distinction between P2P and BitTorrent.

#317945

BT, IRC for everything; and LimeWire for single mp3's

#317976

I use BT and IRC mainly, but I also use Cabos. Cabos is on the same network as Limewire, I just find Cabos to be a little more lightweight than Limewire and a little more minimal.

Bearshare is the best for music and movies, and SOME software. Bearshare is also the fastest P2P app I ever used.

eDonkey is the best for most software, and it has a built-in torrent client. Also they have it for Mac.

#317994

For torrents, I really like BitComet. It's written in C++ so it's a fair bit better on memory usage than Azureus and some of the other clients. And definitely Limewire for regular P2P stuff.

#317999

How the hell do you use the torrents? :/

utorrent is going to be the new azureus in my opinion.. the program is only 88kb, and has much of the functionality of azureus, and also takes up far few resources.. only 10mb when downloading a bunch of files for me.. check it out
