Hide the "file Edit View" bar in applications

Hello all, I'm new to the forums and new to "MAC-atizing" my desktop. I currently have the FlyakiteOSX pack installed, but if I were to also use objectbar to have my taskbar look like one from OSX, is there a way I can get rid of the file bar for all my applications?

thanks.

ok inpro, i'll help you with this one. since i know that you are new, and i was once a new member here and made mistakes like ALL OF US (or most of us) DIDN'T GET IT IN THE FIRST TIME. so i wouldn't throw some attitude coz it's not my style at all, and community forums is about helping each other. sheesh.

to be able to remove the File Edit etc. for all applications (doesn't apply since CorelDraw and Word still show up), you need ObjectBar, right? but the OB you must have is the Enhanced version and there will be an option to "hide" those bars (File Edit etc.).

i hope i helped you in resolving this matter. glad to be of any help. and i would like to remind that next time we (this applies to ALL OF US) must use the search button (right-top) to find a specific post we need. mocking each other won't do us any good.

@what shockeme really means is, yes, you can do that. It's called "objectbar." There's also a few clones in this forum that do it too, like McBar, but ObjectBar is prolly the most consistent.

:edit, lol, kaloyster beat me to it.

Ok , thanks man. I wasn't sure if object bar allowed you to do that. I over looked the search because I'm studying for 3 exams tomorrow and wasn't thinking...I usually do search, that's how I found out how to do all this in the first place.

thanks again ;)

you can enable it if you have the enhanced version. but if you have the public version, even if you click it, a box will popup that says for registered users only. so you have no choice but to get the enhanced version. goodluck on the exams and welcome to Aqua-Soft!

Maybe something weird happened when I downloaded OBar, but I only have the trial version, and it lets me do whatever the heck I want. It "steals" all my menus up to the bar for me like I want (well, not Mozilla products, and some other weird ones), and the works ok. Are you running the same version I am, 1.60?

http://www.osx-e.com/downloads/themes/tigertheme_ob.html

I'm using that theme but my font isn't bold like that, any ideas? and do you recomend some good skins? :D

edit: Oh and another thing, would it not be recommended to run flyakiteosx along with objectbar / windowblinds? Cause I run flyakite mainly for sounds / cursors / boot screen / login

#317662

@ppoppe, i'm using 1.60 enhanced. i dunno, maybe you hacked your public version? ;)

@inpro, to make your fonts all thick and nice like that, you must enable Cleartype. to do this:

1. right-click the desktop

2. select properties

3. select appearance tab

4. click effects

5. place a check on the "use the following method" blah blah

6. choose Cleartype

you're all set!

btw: you must have lucida grande installed (it is included in Steve's Tiger theme for WindowBlinds). you just go to C:program filesstardockobject desktopwindowblindsmac os x tiger and you will see the Lucida Grande and Lucida Grande Bold fonts there. copy them to your C:windowsfonts folder. Have fun modding!

thanks oh and kaloyster another thing? what about what I also said in post?

"Oh and another thing, would it not be recommended to run flyakiteosx along with objectbar / windowblinds? Cause I run flyakite mainly for sounds / cursors / boot screen / login"

Like is that a bad thing to run all of thos? I have 1gb of ram

#317665

not at all, chum! :) you can run them (stating that you have 1g ram. i only have 512 and its a breeze) simultaneously to achieve more 1:1 modding result. flyakite doesn't include objectbar so you definitely may want to consider running OB along with it. and you can't use the skin of Steve Grenier w/o WindowBlinds (Steve's WB skin is included in the flyakite installer so you don't need to manually download it)

#317666

^ awesome, thanks for all the info and help! I'm going to get Window Blinds and then a few other things like a finder / widgets...I'll post a screenshot when im "done"

Oh yeah!? Yz'Shadow doesnt work with objectbad??

another thing i wish all the program icons that are minimized to the object dock weren't such low quality. I guess I could change all the icons for them, but that would take forever!

ahhh...back to studying! (I'm so tired/out of it)

#317667

YzShadow doesn't add a shadow in OBar. you need WindowFX to pull it off. and i believe the shadow will show up in enhanced version of OBar only (noticed it coz i use trial before, no shadow showing up) and regarding the dock icons, you can search the threads for specific icons you need. just configure them to use the smooth icons you'll obtain from here. there are about tons of icons for every app in the forums. like photoshop, yahoo messenger, google earth etc. you just need to search for them coz they are so many.
