Continuous PowerBook crashes

Guhh... One more thing...

I just switched out my 1GB stick of Crucial in for the original 256MB stick, because I'm having the PowerBook sent out sometime this week.

I just started up... and now System Profiler now reads the correct amount of RAM installed, not half of what is installed in the lower slot.

Is it possible my logic board is fine, and the RAM is defective?

Gah.

EDIT: Is 10.3.9 the result of everything....?

No can do, I don't have another machine to test it out on. I really don't know what to think now, because the PowerBook detects the RAM fine if the 1GB Crucial stick is removed and I only have the two original 256MB sticks installed. Now, when I have the Crucial stick installed in the lower slot, it is only read as being 512MB, but if it is moved to the upper slot, it is read as 1GB and the other 256MB is read as is, for a total of 1.12 GB of RAM.

Will have to call Crucial, now.

So I called Crucial. They suggested that I run Hardware Test before I actually send in the 1GB stick of RAM. So I first ran Hardware Test with the two original sticks of 256MB. Everything passed. Logic Board included.

I then replaced the stick of 256MB in the lower slot with the Crucial RAM. Ran Hardware Test. Everything passed.

...

So I restart, check out System Profiler... the amount of RAM is displayed properly: 1.25GB. [1GB + 256MB.]

What the hell.

My mind is warped. Is there NOTHING wrong now? If so, how is that possible?

I have no idea what to think.

I suggest you still send the PB to Apple. It could be a mobo problem (and probably is)

It's so much cheaper than BTO.

To be honest i don't know.

I know Apple rips people off for extra RAM but at the same time you might screw up your PB.

If it was my PB and it was under warananty, i would go for it. I could aways get it replaced
