[release] iSound 1.0

what do you mean by filled in bars?

#315637

I mean it just shows the grayed out 'progress chunks' as if the volume is 0, which mute is, and it shows no soundwaves.

#315638

ok, il be right on it then

#315639

Looking neat.

#315653

um can you make it so that it makes that little noise when adjusting the volume.....also could you possibly make it control the normal volume as well....because if i turn that volume right up isound remains the same

#315655

Really nice!

Personally, i have a little "problem" with the transparency level. Perhaps you can make a version with higher transparency? 50% ?! Somthing like that. Would be wonderful. And perhaps white instead of grey?

But once again, really really useable.

Thank you :D

#315661

Man Oh man, where do you guys gather ideas like this from? Looks like i picked it up after some revisions so thanks for the feedback guys and thanks technominds for fine tuning her. Nice app.

Being windows exclusive user this is a first for me, normally never bother with any hotkeys at all but instead integrate most needs/uses from the right-clicker, but this is convenient and seems to work pretty well here.

#315665

Hi, nice idea. Some tips for you:

1. Dont use a OCX or sth., use the mmsystem and control the mixer directly, especially commercial OCXs which you have to register hack or whatever and of which you have no sources. Do you know what the OCX does what you dont know about?!

2. Let the user decide which keys he wants to use, dont present a list where he has to select them. Use a Editcontrol and when the user presses keys scan the codes and use them.

The program crashed while setting down the volume -> screenshot. Its in german cause my vbruntime dlls are in german. Maybe the ocx crashed it? If you find no errors in your code better leave it off.

So go on and make it better, looks like this one could be a nice one.

Looks great, but it uses 5 megs of ram while not changing the sound :/ I mean, it's not the end of the world, but less=more :)

(unless you can make it skinnable, then more=more)

#315691

ditto the whole 'type mismatch' thing on volume down. there, wasn't that helpful? :)

#315701

Look great :)

Justa little bug, the bezel is not "Always-on-top", but the rest is perfect.

Edit: little detail, the Mac Keyboard "Mute" key doesn't work.

Edit2: And it would be cool if the Sound Change command was hooked, as 3r-1c does (ie whatever is the method you use to change the volume, the change is detected and the bezel displayed)

#315716

(unless you can make it skinnable, then more=more)

Yeha, skinnable, thats the best solution. Perhaps the option to change things mentioned in my first post via context menu from a system try icon.

That would be awsome :P

#315729

Wow, loads of ideas there, ive certainly got my work set...

@Vjay, there is no OCX.. i explained that, i re-programmed it to directly access the audio engine.

I have implemented the mute, but will release it later with a few bug fixes.

Ive noticed there is a overflow and it does crash the program, this will be sorted.

Next version, iSound will be completely skinnable :)

#315730

You guys definately want a Systray? I mean... I get slated for clogging up the tray too much.... Maybe an option for a tray like in iJect?

#315732

is there any way for this to take up less memory? i'm getting 10mb here

#315770

After closing it out i later discovered it still resting in the running processes under Task Manager, it seems to not want to let go. LoL Great app though, i like it and especially next versions that will allow skinning. Thanks

#315855

ummm.....@mirror: it says several times in the thread that you have to go to Task Manager to end it...he even said that in his first post when he released it.

#315856

Hi,

Great Job, here a list of "things" to add :

- other keys (with combo, like CTRL-F9, CTRL-ALT-PgUp etc...)

- something to load it at windows start up (ok : start menu is good but ->), but with the saving of the keys

- less memory consuming

#315909

I would prefer the option to have (or not have) a systray icon.

#315935

I just tried your app. Looked good until my current problem arose. My sound now is almost not hearable. I have to turn my speakers all the way to get any amount of sound out of them. I set all my system sounds to max and checked all my other apps that would change the sound. They are all maxed as well.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

*Well nevermind I figured out what the deal was and all is good.

#315958

OK, ive basically finished version 2.0.... i know it was quick... but there is an unbelievable difference...

Im looking for beta testers, so those who would like to test and maybe have some previous experience in testing, please add me on MSN:

tommyohilfiger@hotmail.com

New features include:

* External settings (Only have to configure once)

* System Tray Icon

* Hooked to All audio devices (such as windows volume control) and will show bezel if changed.

* Moveable Volume slider window from SysTray

* Entirely Skinnable (Bezel, Progress Bar and Slider Bar)

* New Control Panel to define Skins, System Tray Visibility and Hotkeys.

* Mute Hotkey (Plus Bezel and Windows Hook)

Features still to come:

* More options for hotkeys (Although sorry guys, not sure if Multiples like Ctrl+F9 will be in this version)

*

I have the apple wireless keyboard and the volume keys up or down don't work with your app, I figure it was because of the wireless thing, since most apps are build for the wired apple keyboard but then I tried f15 & f16 which windows keyboards dont have and it worked but i would really like to use the voume keys instead.

#319622

Is there any way to get ahold of v2.0 except through MSN?

I'd really like to see that v2.0, but I don't use MSN... :-/

I know this thread is rather old, but I hope it's still alive. :)

@technominds,

Why don't you release v2.0 here? Simply call it 2.0b (beta), and you have all of us as beta-testers! :)

EDIT:

Never mind, I found it here. Thanks anyway! :)

#470868

I don't wanna be the kill-joy here, but for Windows there is an AutoHotkey script which can, beside of many other Mac-like things, emulate MacOS X' volume slider, too:

ac'tivAid

I hope anyone here thinks its useful...

:)

(By the way: This whole thread is kinda old, isn't it?)

#470938

Weird to happen to pop by and see my rediculously old threads still active :D

When I left this forum (and got so carried away with my music I forgot about this stuff) I was working on iSound 2.0, iJect, a few secret programs and a Finder Clone.

Are there decent clones for these or would people like to see me finish them?
