I've got a really, really bad sounding concert bootleg (at 56kb/s none the less >.< ) and i want to join tracks so instead of hearing silence every time my iPod goes to the next song, i want it to be one long mp3 file.
The obvious problem is that i don't wanna re-encode the files cause the quality is bad as it is, re-enciding it again would only make things worse.
So any easy, non-destructive way of joining mp3s together?
You could convert the MP3's to WAVs and use the Windows Sound Recorder (just disable your mic if you have one). You do have the ability to add and delete sections. Then once you are done, you could just covert the file back to an MP3. It would probably take a while....but it would be easy.
I believe you'd still experience quality loss that way. mp3 -> WAV ->mp3

re-encoding a lossy format is a bad, bad idea :slant:
Yeah, but you can't lose information again that's already been thrown away. At least in theory, a good .mp3 codec just downsamples and then throws away frequencies you can't hear anyway (or at least, throws away frequencies that don't affect the sound _too_ much).
So, oversampling a low kbps mp3 to a wav file, and then resampling back down to that low kbps shouldn't really lose you much (if any) information at all.
