I'm assuming it gets your IP, and files you on the map based on that...probably without asking your permission.
That's just a random guess, though.

You better stop surfing the net if you're worried about your privacy being invaded. Um, yes, that's how you're usually tracked on the net - IP Don't want to be tracked? Block it and don't sign up for things like this. I've seen gvisit used mostly on blogs (google it)
Here's a line from the Location Track website (linked on the bottom of gvisit's page), which is behind the gvisit service so you don't have to assume:
"LocationTrack.com is powered by the most accurate and complete IP-to-location database in the industry."
I don't use this service, nor have any vested interest in it, but a little research goes a long way, people.
